COOLIDGEISM IS ASSAILED AT SCRIBE RALLY Walter Myers and Evans Woollen Heard by Democrats. Bv Times Special TERRE HAUTE, Ind., June 26. A business session with a luncheon and an auto ride over the city, was the final program today before Indiana Democratic Editorial Association, holding a two-day outing here. Leading Democrats of the State are attending. Walter Myers, Democratic nominee for Mayor of Indianapolis, and Evans Woollen, president of the Fletchers Savings and Trust Company, were principal speakers at the annual banquet Thursday night. Others who spoke were Walter Chambers, State chairman; Mrs. A. P. Flynn, of Logansport, women’s State chairman; Harvey Harinon, of Princeton, former State Senator, and Representative Arthur Greenwood. Myers called upon the Democratic party to take the lead in reasserting the fundamentals of human freedom and attacking the evils that restrict liberty. The Nation’s need for old time, Jeffersonian principles, untainted with quackery, was pointed out by Woollen. 'The editors were much impressed with Woollen’s speech and the sessions today buzzed with talk that he should take the field in the coming election for United States Senator. * Woollen w-as not alone, however, other eligible candidates ware on hand, including L. Ert Slack, former United States district attorney; Dr. Carleton McCullloch, twice nominee for Governor; State Senator Joseph M. Cravens, and George K. Denton, who lost the Supreme Court judgeship by one vote. Cravens, who led the bolting Democratic Senators to Ohio in the last Legislature, insisted, however, he was retiring from politics. The editors were paying little attention to the Governorship, believing that the party should first stress the approaching Senate contest. John McFadden, Rockville attorney, and George Butler of Evansville, however, were present and were discussed as eligibles. BAND MUSIC IN PARKS Those who seek fresh air in public parks this summer may listen to music by the thirty piece Indianapolis Military Band. The park board Thursday contracted for concerts by that organization, with soloists, twice wcek.y in various parks. The band also will play in University square, where R. Walter Jarvis, superintendent of parks is aranging a system of parking automobiles.
