TWO YOUTHS DEAD; STRUCK BY TRACTIONS > —- Boy Was Rldlgg Motorcycle —Coroner Seeks Identity of One. Two youths are dead today as a result of being struck by interurban cars. Clenise Hawan, IT, of 1027 S. State Ave., was fatally Injured late on Tuesday when he was struck by a T. H., I. & E. car at Belmont Ave. and the tracks, three blocks south of Washington St. Injured Sunday Coroner Paul F. Robinson was today attempting to learn the Identity of a young man who died at city hospital late Tuesday from injuries received Sunday when the auto in which he was riding was struck by an lnterurban four miles east of the city on the National Rd. Police were told that Hawan waa riding on the tandem of a motorcycle driven by his brother-in-law, Luther Howard, 19, of 1812 S. Pershing Ave., when the accident occurred. Howard told police he thought Hawan either jumped or fell from the motorcycle when they were crossing the tracks. Howard was held on an Involuntary manslaughter charge. A similar charge i was placed against Frank Hawkins, 61, of 45 N. Addison St., motorman of the lnterurban. i Riding In Auto According to Sergeant Jack O’Neal of the accident prevention bureau, the unidentified youth was riding in an auto driven by William Henderson of Davton, Ohio. He was taken to hospital'in unconscious condition and never regained consciousness. The body was taken to Roywter & Askin undertaking parlors, 1902 N. Tough Problem for Jailer Bv United Press * CAPE MAT. N. J.. June 24. —Luther Edmonds, who weighs 490 pounds and claims to be the fattest taxicab driver in the East, furnished quite a problem to the Cape May Jail officials when bedtime arrived after he was held as a witness in a murder case. No cots being strong enough to support Edmonds, one of them was reinforced with bricks piled under it and the prisoner slept on it.

DOCTOR GIVEN 3-YEAR TERM TANARUS" r Local Physician Convicted on Drug Charge. Dr. Charles T. Burris, colored, 627 Agnes St., faces a three-year sentence in Federal Prison, Leavenworth, Kan., for alleged violation of Federal narcotic laws. He was found guilty by a jury in Federal Court Tuesday and Judge Robert CBaltzell imposed the sentence, together with a SSOO fine. Nellie Dean, admittted drug addict, testified she had purchased morphine from Dr. Burris on three occasions. He admitted the salis, but said he made them to relieve pain. The Government lost two cases when Juries acquitted Pasquale Carvella, tobacco dealer, and Carl Stelghlitz, both of Elwood, of charges of receiving stolen goods. Charles Harroll of Terre Haute admitted use ot the mails to defraud jewelry concei ns out of about $4,000. He was sentenced to a year and a day, at Leavenworth. Ray Murphy of Terre Haute was sentenced to ninety days In Jail and fined SIOO on a plea of guilty of violating liquor laws.

TWO TRUSTEES NAMED Governor Appoints Members for Purdue University Board. Mrs. Virginia C. Meredith of Lafayette has been reappointed a member of the Purdue University board of trustees by Governor Jackson and Robert A. Simpson of Vincennes has been named to succeed C. M. Hobbs of Bridgeport. Terms are for three years, beginning July 1. Jackson indicated he would reappoint David F. Ross of Lafayette, whose term expires July 1.
