MODERN STYLES ARE FLAYEDIN PASTOR’S TALK Bobbed Hair and Women’s Dress Topic of Rev. W. M. Smith. We need In civilized America a great awakening of God-conscious-ness among those who profess to he the people of God, and a return to the old paths In accord with the Bible precepts, asserted the Rev. William M. Smith, superintendent Union Bible Seminary, In a talk Sunday aftebnoon at Salem Park, west of Indianapolis. The Rev. Smith declared the most common manifestation of immorality today is the blatant disregard for God’s standard of dress. Immodest In Church "Instead of women dressed in modest apparel we see them very immodestly dressed right in church,” said the Rev. Smith. "Admonitions to simplicity in hair-dressing are flagrantly violated. Not only do women cut off their hair, ignoring the precept of First Corinthians

11:15, "If a woman have long hair, It Is a glory to her; for her hair is given for her a covering,' but they train It down over their ears and loop it in festoons on their foreheads with the evident design to try and make themselves pretty. “Women painty their faces until the wild Indians of America did not look more hideons,” continued the Rev. Smith. " lese immoralities may not be as harmful as some others that may be mentioned, but their widespread prevalence shows how generally the rank and file of people in civilized lands disregard anything, God says, if the style is otherwise.” Clime Among Youth "The condition in the moral world Is largely the result of the educational system of the day," said the Rev. Mr. Smith. The widespread of crime among youth shows a great disobedience to parenvs, the Rev. Mr. Smith said. “Parents are too often ‘without natural affection’ and do not love their children enough to bear with them the cross of correcting and punishing them, or, if doing do, they do it too often without love,” he said. Frederick Taylor Alludes to Stephenson Case. “We certainly need anew sense of justice in this city," said the Rev. Frederick N. Taylor, pastor First Baptist Church, in a sermon Sunday night when he deplored the widespread practice of taking a change of venue from Marion County courts. Alluding to the case of D. C. Stephenson, which was removed to Noblesville Circuit Court, Dr. Taylor called It "one of the saddest commentaries on justice in the courts of this country.” Recounting that numerous women’s organizations had passed resolutions asking justice be done in the case. Dr. Taylor said this action had been taken “as if we couldn’t take it for granted that Justice would be dealt In the courts of this county.” "Asking that Justice be done in our courts. Think of It. SANITATION BIG CAUSE FOR USE OF PAPER CUPS Ostermeyer Company Han- ' dies Burt, Conical Shaped, Product. "Service plus sanitation” Is the slogan under which the products of the Ostermeyer Paper Company, 145 Virginia Ave., are sold. This company distributes the Burt paper cup, a conical shaped cup of waxed paper, used instead of the drinking glass In many factories and business offices. Danger of Disease In this day of sanitation and hygiene, there are few who do not realize the danger of disease transmitted through the use of the common drinking cup, but not everyone realizes the advantage the Burt cup has over other kinds of sanitary cups. f For one thing, according to Alvin Ostermeyer, it holds Just the right amount of water for a drink —not too much, resulting In waste, nor to little, making It necessary to refill. For another, It Is of Buch shape that it cannot be placed on a table when filled with water, and thus many a good desk Is saved being marred by a carelessly placed moist cup. Made of Pure Paper Again, It Is made of the purest paper and put together with pure starch paste, making it absolutely sanitary, and the holder keeps It In perfect condition until It is used. The time saved for employe's through elimination of sickness caused ty diseases carried hi the common drinking cup or glass will more than pay for the cost of Burt cups, according to Ostermeyer.
