CITY FORBIDDEN TO CUT WEEDS BEFORE JULY 1 Mr. Fixit Learns of New Law When Following Up Complaint. If yotir troubles and woes from bumpy and dusty roads can be settled reasonably, send Mr. Fixit a letter. He will serve as your mediator at the. city hall in acy complaints you may have to make to city officials. Drop him a line at The Times. Mr. Fixit heard of anew law today. It forbids the city cutting weeds before July 1. That’s the story of vVilliam Schoenrogg, clerk of the street commissioner’s office. Soon after that date weeds will be cut in response to the following letter: In regard to the weeds I wrote you about. They grow from Belmont Ave. to Eagle Creek and south from Minnesota St. to the first alley in what is said to be a ten-acre field. RESIDENTS OF MINNESOTA ST. Dear Friend Mr. Fixit: There is a man who has taken possession of the whole sidewalk and half of the street between Finley Ave. and Bradbury Ave. on Shelby St., right in the congested district at two park entrances, which is dangerous for children, with the kindergarten on the corner. The city preaches to keep the children off the street, but how can you when a man takes in all the walks and half of the street so the children can not g§t by without going into the middle of the street? W@ should have at least half of the sidewalk to keep the children from going away out in the middle of Shelby St. In danger of getting killed by street cars and automobiles. We would be glad for ycu to look into this matter before some one gets run over or killed. TIMES READERS OF SHELBY ST. AND FINLEY AVE. Sergeant Mary Moore of the police accident prevention bureau told Mr. Fixit she would send an inspector to this location at once. DEAR MR. FIXIT: There is a foul-smeJLling vault at the rear of 1149 S. Illinois St. What can be done? SOUTH SIDE CITIZENS. The board of health will attend to this situation at once, Mr. Fixit was told. ..... In response to a request Mr. Fixit received that the Hoosier Motor Club install signs near Villa Ave. and Orange St., Mr. Fixit has received the following letter from Todd Stoops, secretary-manager: We have investigated and find that inasmuch tps the main thoroughfare is paved and Orange St. is unimproved, such conditions would not justify a sign placed on Orange St. We believe you will agree with us upon viewing this situation. TODD STOOPS, Secretary-Manager.
