Bu United Prcst NEW YORK, June s.—Another market with mixed specialties up and down. Ice opened at 170%, a new high on the move and up eight points in three days. Foundation responded to prospects of large foreign orders and opened at 114%, anew high on the present move. United States Steel, Can and Mack Truck opened with little change and less interest. Pierce Arrow pfd., was firm at 74%. Remington ticked merrily upward to 70% up 1% pveraight. Railroads were unchanged with Frisco at 82% and Lehigh Valley at 81%. New issues entered the breach with oils in the van. Brokers and customers alike were pleased to find anew group to operate in as some of the old ones were getting stale. Consequently when the Government gasoline figures were announced all hands eagerly seized the | suggestion and either bought or /suggested purchase of oils. There have been so many confusing data on prices that the average layman has had his troubles operating in the oils, but there are plenty of potential bulls in the stock. Local Bank Clearings Indianapolis bank clearings Friday were $2,584,000. Bank debits amounted to $5,088,000.

CHICAGO, June s.—Grain futures dropped sharply from the sensational higher opening to an irregular finish on the Chicago Board of Trade today. Mid-day profit taking took the edge off wheat. The market held a fair average in the face of brisk selling by handlers who felt the opening jump placed values above a domestic basis. Buying late was not very conspiclous, but it managed to hold a substantial share of the day’s advance. A ruSh to sell sent corn tabogganing to a fraction below the previous olose:. Timid holders and locals sold because of better weather and crop reports. Oats trade was not so active. A good part of the opening gain was held on export inquiries. Provisions dropped sharply on selling by leading bulls. Chicago Grain Table —Jun 5 WHEAT— Prev. Open. High. Low. Close, close.
