JACKSON GIVES CLEMENCY TO NINETEEN MEN Seven Are Paroled—-‘Chuck’ Wiggins’ Sentence Is Commuted. Acting on recommendations of the State board of pardons Jackson today paroled seven men serving time In State penal institutions and commuted the sentences of twelve others, Including that of Charles F. (Chuck) Wiggins, local pugilist. Wiggins’ two-to-flve-year sentence at the State Reformatory was cut to a minimum term of fifteen months. The commutation will cause Wiggins’ case to come directly before the reformatory parole board at its next meeting. Sentence Commuted The Governor commuted the five-fourteen-year sentence of Raymond Bridge, sentenced in the Criminal Court for robbery, to a four-year minimum term. . No marion County persons received outright paroles. William Carson, sentenced to sixty days on the State Farm and fined S2OO for liquor violations, was permitted to pay the fine, in installments. Applications Refused Clemency applications were refused sixty-four persons, eight of whom were Marion County petitioners. Those refused from Marion County are: Harry Rangsdale, John McCall, Fred Abbott, Hobart Baker, Noble Claycombe, Frank Randles, James Noonan and Joseph Lee.

Hogue, city controller, and at least nine other petitions are being circulated, it was 1 learned today.
