Patrolman Richard Fogarty "Old Reliable Dick,” as Patrolman Richard Fogarty Is called, has been a member of the department since July 3, 1915. He has an unblemished record, and in very few infstances has ever had to be told by his superior officers about a law violator In his district. At the present time he patrols district 40, which takes In Indiana Ave., the “Colored Broadway.” A careful watch must be kept for craps games and whisky peddlers. The police slates show Fogarty makes his share of arrests of both. Fogarty lives at 1138 Pleasant St., and works on his district from 11 p. m. until 7 a. m.

Mr. Fixit has good tidings. The street commissioner’s department has received first car of oil and began to spread if Saturday Hereafter, five cars will come in every week. If your street should have oil, the department will try to assist you. James Hensley, superintendent of street lighting, is not so fortunate. He has no appropriation to place additional street lights at present, but hopes to be able to deliver the goods later. FISH PROVED COSTLY Netters Apprehended In by Wardens Pay Fines. Two netters operating In Lake of The Woods near Plymouth recently found illegal pastime expensive, for they were apprehended by wardens of the State conservation department and paid fines which made each fish cost approximately $7. State roads leading Immediately into the Capitol are closed for construction, and both these roads, No. 39, known as the Brookville Rd., and No. 6, known as the Michigan Rd., have very fair detours. State Rd. 37 is closed from Muncle through Anderson to the Marion county lino for consruction. Although a fair detour Is available around the closed portions, traffic avoid Rd. 11 between Pendleton and Marion, and No. 37 between Anderson and the Marlon county line. Traffic also should avoid State Rd. 22 between Bloomington and Martinsville, as this road Is closed for construction, and there is no suitable detour for heavy traffic. Traffic from Bloomington to Indianapolis should proceed by way of Spencer. Best Routes Foreign traffic to Indianapolis will be Inconvenienced least by taking routes described as follows: Richmond traffic should take Road 3 (National road). Ft. Wayne traffic may proceed by way of Huntington, Marion, Kokomo

and thence over Road 1 to Indianapolis without detours South Bend traffic should follow State Road 1 through Plymouth, Peru and Kokomo to Indianapolis. This road will be open and without a detour. Michigan City traffic may follow Road 15 through La Porte and Logansport to Indianapolis with one detour Just south of Logansport. Gary traffic may follow Road 8 through Crown Point and Rensselaer to Remington, thence Road 7 to Wolcott. At Wolcott traffic may either go over State Road 7 to Monticello, thence on State Road 44 through Frankfort to Lebanon, or at Wolcott thte traffic may go south on Road 45 to Lafayette, thence over No. 6 through Lebanon to Indianapolis. Several detours will be found on Road 6 between Lafayette and Lebanon and while rough are passable. National Road Terre Haute traffic should follow State Rd. 3 (National Rd.) This road Is paved except for a couple of grade separation projects. The old narrow overhead structure at Putnamville In Putnam County, requires slow speed. Vincennes traffic may take State Rd. 10 to Terre Haute, thence over State Rd. 3: or Vincennes traffic may take State Rd. 12 out of Vincennes, crossing the river Into Martinsville, and thence follow State Rd. 22, which Is paved from Martinsville to Indianapolis. Evansville traffic may take Rd. 10 to Vincennes and thence as described above.
