JEROME TELLS HOWNAZIMOVA WAS DISCOVERED Actress and Husband Got Into Political Trouble and Ran Away. Bu Times Special NEW YORK, May 22.—Jerome K. Jerome, the famous English dramatist, editor, humorist, author of “Three Men in a Boat,” and of the popular play, “The Passing of the Third Floor Back,” now tells how he “discovered” Nazimova. In an article about his adventures In the London Theater, he writes in the June Harper’s: “Alla Nazimova was drawing all New York. I found her somewhat changed from the quiet, simple girl who, with her husband (they spelled the name ‘Nazomof’ then) had knocked at our door in London with a letter of introduction from friends of ours in Russia. They had got

McDOUGALL means the FIRST and FINEST of Kitchen Cabinets. Yet they cost no more. For this reason those buyers who investigate carefully —who seek the best value —always decide on the McDougalL The reasons are: Construction: McDougall Kitchen Cabinets have always been famous for their r a sturdiness that cr ses only from honest materip / honestly put together. Many records of McDougall being thirty years in service, and still in use, have come to our attention. The Samson steel comer brace is one reason for McDougall’s longer wear .Eight of these braces in the base make it strain or / shock-proof. Equal care is exercised in building the upper cupboard, or top section. You never hear of a McDougall becoming wobbly, or loose at the joints. They are made with the same care as fine furniture —which, indeed, they are!
In conjunction with this special offer of Kitchen Cabinets we have a most unusual display of up-to-the-minute valuein living room furniture and porch ff:niture of all kinds, including fibre reed suites, rockers and swings.
themselves into trouble with the political police and had had to cut and run with barely time to pack a handbag. Only Spoke German “She spoke German, but he spoke only Russian. They looked little more than boy and girl; and he in his way was as beautiful as she was. That first evening we taught him an English sentence. He had said it in Russian, his eyes fixed on my wife. Alla translated it into German, and then we told him the English for it, which was: 'You remind me of my first love.’ He repeated it till he had it perfect; and subsequently quite a number of women mentioned to me casually that he seemed to know only one English sentence. We chaffed him about it. He maintained it was not humbug. All beautiful women reminded him of his first love. But his last love! there was no one like her, and kneeling he kissed Alla Nazimof’s hand. He was rather a lovable, childish person. t Benefit Performance “I took them to Tree and we fixed up a benefit performance for them at the Haymarket; afterwards I got Frohman interested and he fathered them into America. For some reason

Convenience: The final achievement of McDougall completeness is found in the surprising number of real conveniences in the new 1925 McDougall cabinet. Such features as the Simplex lowering flour bin; the nonchipping, sliding Porceliron worktable top; velvet-lined drawers for silver; ant-proof casters; handy helps inside the doors and attractive art panels outside; these, with many other features, make the McDougall an unequalled value. Appearance: Into these cabinets are built the “lines” which bespeak accurate knowledge of good wood designing, and which lend cheerfulness to the kitchen. Nor does the attention to detail end there —for every cabinet is finished‘in Sherwin-Williams varnish or enamels. Using highgrade, high-price finishes on cabinets retailing at moderate prices, again emphasize the fact that McDougall gives most for your money.

the boy went back to Russia and was killed in a pogram. The first person she asked me about when I saw her in New York was ‘Madame Needles,’ as she had always called a small fox terrior of ours. They had been great friends and had played ‘hunt the slipper’ together. Madame Needles would go outside the room while Madame Nazimof would hide one of her shoes and then open the door. Only once Needles failed to find it, and that was when Alla had sprinkled scent upon it.” From Pygmy Land LONDON, May 22 —A pygmy elephant, full grown but only three feet, eight inches high, has arrived in London from the African Congo.
