CHURCH WILL HOLD COLDER ANNIVERSARY Sacred Heart to Celebrate Its Fiftieth Year Soon. Plans are being rapidly completed for a week’s celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, beginning Sunday, On the opening Sunday of the celebration, the Jubilee week will be ushered in with a parade at 9:30 a. m. by the men of the church. This will be followed by pontlflcial high mass with the Rt. Rev. Joseph Chartrand, bishop of the diocese, in charge. Assisting the bishop will be the former boys of the parish who have become priests, numbering twelve. % The Rev. John Ilg, the first young man of the parish to be ordained a priest, will preach the sermon. At night, a concert will be given in St. Cecilia Hall by the boy? of St. Joseph College of Teutopolis, 111. On the following Monday morning at 9 o’clocg solemn high mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Martin Strub of St. Louis. That evening, the St. Cecilia Club will present “The Toymaker of Nuremberg” at Sacred Heart Hall. All the players are members of the parish. On Tuesday of that week the Rev. Francis Haase, pastor of Sacred Heart Churoh, will ce.lebrate solemn high mass at 8 a. m. After this service a parish ’•eunion will be held at Columbia Park. DANGER IN “CATCH PHRASES’ Chicago • Mission Worker Tells of Handicaps. Catch phrase ssuch as "I'll try anything once,” and "They’re all doing it,” heard every day on the streets and in offices, are causing the downfall of thousands each year, said the Rev. Walter G. Taylor ht the Roberts Park M. E. Church Sunday. The Rev. Taylor is superintendent of the Pacific Garden Mission of Chicago, which he terms a “soulwashing joint.” The psychology back of the expressions prevents men from doing efficient mission work, he said, and their repetition develops an improper and dangerous attitude.
