UNUSUAL STAMP ISSUE EXPECTED In Commemoration of Norse ) Immigrants’ Arrival. An allotment of Norse-American commemorative stamps is expected to arrive soon at the Indianapolis postoffice, according to Robert H. Bryson, postmaster. The stamps are in commemoration of arrival in New York on Oct. 9, 1825, of the sloop “Restoration” with the first group of immigrants from Norway to the United States. The stamps will be in two-cent and flve-cent denominations. The first issue is to be placed on sale at a few cities! May 18. The two-cent stamp bears the words “Norse-American” in white Roman letters at the top, in a straight panel, and below this is a curved ribbon reading "Centennial." The central design represents the sloop and at the bottom is, “United States Postage Two Cents.” The center is in black and the border in red. % On the flve-cent stamp is shown a Viking <ship, a shield of Norway with the date '‘1825” and a "United States shield with “1925.” The central design is in black ano the border blue. “Norse-American Centennial” appear also on the stamp, as on those of two-cent denomination. the charge of killing Russell S. Dickey, express messenger, during the attempted robbery of a Chicago & Northwestern train last year and were sentenced to twenty-five years in the penitentiary. Their first trial resulted in a hung jury. Bernard Smith, former policeman of Chicago, and Ralph McKee, Chicago, also charged with the murder, were freed.
