Next Tuesday Indianapolis is going to write her proudest chapter of history. Next Tuesday she is going to herald to all the world the beginning of a totally new era— a totally new method of getting about—a method most certainly destined to re-make America. Next Tuesday she is going to unveil and to dedicate to the service of humanity —the world's first bus terminal And Indianapolis doesn’t want to pull this stunt off without yo u. In the light of this great world event, what better place can we ever find than right here and what better time than right now for adding up Indianapolis and finding out, for our own satisfaction, just where she stands in the column of cities ? / o+3 o+3 o+3 Admittedly, Indianapolis is not as big as some cities. But neither is a mountain trout as big as a whale; and as between the two, give me the mountain trout because it’s gamer, more beautiful and —better eating. C+3 O+O o+3 The big thing always to remember about Indianapolis is the outstanding fact that this town has produced more big constructive ideas in behalf of humanity than any other town in America. She has dreamed more dreams and, if you please, done more good. Then too, for some unaccountable reason, Indianapolis has always managed somehow to put copper rivets in her dreams and to make, them work. o+3 o+o o+3 Indianapolis produced the world’s first James Whitcomb Riley -the world’s first Booth Tarkington -the world’s first Meredith Nicholson. Indianapol s took the world aside and quietly demonstrates with Prest-O-Lite how to run automobiles after sundown. Indianapolis built the Speedway and taught the world how to hurry. Then she brought to Ihis Speedway the best cars of Europe
With the completion of the new Indianapolis Bus Terminal , in conjunction f with the fact that Indianapolis is the world 9 s largest interurban center, as well as the world's largest inland railroad center P Indianapolis now takes into her corporate limits THE WHOLE STATE of Indiana A* and becomes a city of 3,060,416 people & a good town to LIVE in P a good town to do business in a good town to TRADE in # and, from a manufacturing and distribution standpoint, UNQUESTIONABLY, the BEST TOWN IN AMERICA.

and proved in visible, outdoor demonstration that they are not as good as the best cars of America. o+3 o+o o+3 One could go on endlessly listing the great things that only Indianapolis has done —the Community Chest idea, for example, that has spread now over all America and made life possible for hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of hopeless unfortunates who otherwise could not have made the grade. One could point to the Lincoln Highway and remind the rest of the country that there was the inspiration—there the beginning of all this present-day system of nation-wide good roads. But let’s stick to the bus terminal. , o+3 o+3 o+3 In 1853 Indianapolis built the first railway union station in the world. In 1904 Indianapolis opened the world’s first interurban traction terminal station. -that’s history. Next Tuesday, May 19, 1925, Indianapolis will'present to America the world's first bus terminal station. -that’s news. Some time in the future she will probably produce the world’s first great passenger and freight aviation terminal. —but that’s prophecy , and doesn’t at all concern us at this time. , CK9 <P#O O+O The point now is to realize that this bus terminal station is unquestionably the biggest and most far reaching thing Indianapolis has ever done—her greatest step forward. c*s9 <rfO To those of us who love Indianapolis and who believe in her, it is a warning to hurry up with the Plaza and all these new buildings we are talking so much about -and to get everything all fixed up fine —for we are going to have company -a lot of company.
