SERMON IN AIR IS ENJOYED BY MANY PEOPLE The Rev. Fackler Makes Radio Plea for Right Values. Lots of people heard a special sermon yesterday without going: to church to hear it. They “tuned in” while the Rev. L. C. K. Fackler of St. Matthews Evangelical Lutheran Church broadcasted Sunday afternoon a sermon on “That Which Cannot Be Bought and With Which a Real Owner Will Not Part." “The real sustaining and supporting power comes from God,” he said. “God is the strength of my heart, my portion forever, my protection and my joy. The heart that is filled with the divine love, the soul in which the spirit of God dwells, has a power that will never fail. “There are many that have an opportunity to enjoy the supporting power of God, but carelessly disregard it and on account of this they are spiritually losing out. But he that uses the power of God. will be sustained by the right hand of the Almighty. “We must not forget that those whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth and though He chastens u'i that does not prove that He wants to cast us off. He will give us power to support us in all our trials. Each trial makes it more evident than before that God's power support us. “A Question” “Would you as a Christion want to part with the sustaining, comforting. consoling power of God? No real owner wants to be deprived of it. Those who do not have this power of God within them cannot obtain it with gold or silver. This power is only received by those who will not despire His word and truth. "You cannot buy God's guiding influence and neither would those who enjoy His guiding influence be deprived of it. "There are some that support the church, but that does not mean tiiat they are buying God’s guiding Influence. People may support the church and still not submit themselves to the influence of God. They

"God’s reception into glory is something which cannot be bought, and neither would he who is received by the Lord into glory part with this blessing at any price,” Rev. Fackler said. “CATHOLIC CHURCH" DEFINED Presbyterian P.-*tor Says It Means All Who Love Christ. “The Catholic church means all who love Christ,” declared the Rev. Jae Kelewae. pastor of the First United Presbyterian church in a sermon Sunday. “ ‘Catholic’ is not a word to be pasted on any one organization. It is a descriptive adjective meaning universal. All lovers of Christ are members of the Catholic church. Its open door is Jesus Christ who said,’ 1 am the door, by me, if any man enter in, he shall be saved.” CHRISTIANS’ TASK STATED Minister Says All Must Help God to Reform Sinners. Greatest task of Christians is to help God in reforming sinners and populating the world with men dedicated to the work of God, the Rev. Samuel Edward Long, head of the Bible department of Indiana Central College, said at the Cadle Tabernacle Sunday afternoon. SPEEDWAY IS ALIVE AS RACE DAY NEARS Soon Barking Motors Will Be Heard Over Old Brick Track —Few Foreigners This. Year.

By Blythe Q. Hendricks Once again the sharp, high-pitched staccato bark of the racing motor will be heard on the Hoosier air. For the day of the great annual 500mile race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, May 30, is approaching. In preparation for the big day, a large corps of workmen already is putting - the plant in shape. Grass Is being cut, fences painted, grand standi dolled up and necessary repairs made. However, the track itself will be the same "old brick roadway, with its same old bumps and same old low turns, all of which goes to make the Indianapolis race the greatest American motor event, placing as It does a premium upon driving ability, so that the race not always is to the swift, but to the coolest, cleverest pilot. Hopes for a foreign invasion, which ran high during the winter, are fading fast. Apparently the French. Italian. English and German manufacturers have concluded that with the present 122-inch cubic inch motor limit in force here they have little chance with American built cars. Different Next Y’ear But next year probably will be far different. The motor size will he out of ninety-one inches, a size that has been in use in Europe for more than a year, and upon which European speed car engineers have concentrated their attention. According to reports at least two foreign factories had determined to enter this year's race, but the terrific speed shown on the California board tracks during the winter by the

American 122-inehers caused them to postpone invasions. Entries at the Speedway office are drifting in slowly, but the list undoubtedly will contain the cream of American drivers and cars, with ,a smattering of foreigners, by the time the entries close. At present it looks very much as if it would be the old battle between the Millers and Duesenbergs again, with the three French cars entered by Alfred Guyot, one of which he will drive himself, and Pietro Borodino’s Fiat, as contenders. Well-Known Entries Among the well-known drivers entered now are Bennett Hill, long a favorite with Indianapolis Speedway fans; Earl Cooper, who lost first place to the ill-fated, hard driving Joe Cooper in last year’s race; Ralph De Talma, the most spectacular figure of automobile racing history, and Harry Hartz, a careful, conservative, heady driver, who always is high up in the money. Undoubtedly there will he the usual number of mystery cars and unknown quantities. One of these already has been entered by S. S. Smith of Syracuse. N. Y. No details of the new car are known, but it is said to bp an eight-in-a-row, similar in general design to the Duesenbergs and Millers. Anton Schmidt, who last year entered a Mercedes, is in Europe at present looking for another car to enter in the 1925 event.
