MANUAL HIGH HONOR GROUP TOTAL IS 269 Five Girls Receive Best Grades as Semester Is Half Over. Two hundred and sixty-nine students of Manual Tra’ning High School reached the half-way mans of the current semester by making average in grades in the second marking period which merited recognition on the “Top Ten” honor roll. Five girls received the highesL grades. Lora Meyer of the White House, and Betty Zintel, Red House, tied for first honors, both having perfect A-plus cards. Esther Roth, Gertrude Helmuth and Vivian Short were a few points behind the leaders. John Herrmann, White House, led the boys, closely followed by George Fink and Paul Lohss. LEGION FUND GROWS Huntingburg, Jnd., Goes Over the Top iq Drives. The American Legion endowment fund project for disabled veterans and war orphans now under way in Indiana, struck a responsive chord in Huntingbuig, according to legion officials. When the recent tornado swept southern Indiana, a campaign for Huntingburg's S7OO quota in the legion soldier and orphan relief movement was under way. Within ten days $750.55 was raised for the war sufferers and $1,200 for the relief of the tornado victims. Sellersburg, a small city in Clark County with a population of 915, raised $531.10, against a S3OO quota in the legion effort. The whole of Clark County exceeded its quota, as did Lawrence Capehart Po&t No. 35. of Jeffersonville, the county seat post.
