Radio Speeds Up Ocean Messages Bu NEA Stri'lce NLW YORK, April 23. Radio messages may soon across the ocean at the rate of 1,000 words a minute from a single transmitting station, is the prediction of trans-Atlantic radio officials here. At present a radio message can be clicked off at the rate of 100 words a minute, or slightly more. The develop ment of a machine to speed up the ocean messages, and thus help reduce rates, is now in progress. From 20 to 30 per cent of the messages sent to and from Europe nowadays flow through radio channels, the rest taking the course of the 17 cables on the bed of the Atlantic.

NEW YORK AND CHICAGO Fourth Annual Radio Exposition to See Chicago. The fourth annual radio exposition, which is scheduled for the Grand Central Palace in New York Sept, 12 to IP, it is being planned, will be moved to Chicago for a seo ond big showing.

EXPEREMINT ON VESSEL Steamer to Carry Short Wave Transmitting Set. Bu Time Svrrinl HARTFORD, Conn., April 23. When the steamship Samaria sails from Liverpool for Boston on April 25 she will carry short wave radio transmitting and receiving apparatus which it is planned to use in ex perimental work with British amateur stations and UnitetT tSates and Canadian amateur stations of the American Radio Relay League. Twenty metres will be used days and ninety at night. The Samaria will sign G6YM, the call assigned ;o this station by the British Postal authorities.
