A girl’s volley ball program Is in full swing. Team’s captained by Maja Frownlee, Margaret Murt, Katherine Price and Betty Bagnoli were victorious over those of Mae Beal, Violet Grabhom, Angelina Phillips and Martha Armstrong. Manuscripts in the contest to decide the class poet must be entered before May 10, William N. Otto, class censor, announced. A Frances Walter, Shortridge ’22, was one of the three Juniors at De Pauw University to be elected to Phi Beta Kappa. A pantomine of "The Three Bears” was feature of the last meeting of the Junior Drama League. A life study w r as given by Dorothy Mattox, Evelyn Morrison, and Mildred Mahin. Henrietta Orr gave two readings. T ’he Boys' Glee Club, under direction of Lyndon R. Street, sang at West Washington St. Methodist Church, Sunday. Sale of firearms and the abolishing of the Jury system of trial were discussed by members of the Senate at the last Friday meeting. Joy Weyant and Beulah were admitted to membership. Lieut. Col. George W. Lee. retiring commandant of the Indianapolis R. O. T. C., was presented an officer’s riding whip by members of the Officers’ Club Friday. • Cadet Major Robert B. Hurt gave the speech of presentation. Art pupils won several prizes in the poster contest conducted by the Chamber of Commerce. They were as follows: Second prize, Ruth Peterson; third prize, Marian Corya; fourth prize, Robert Gilliland; fifth prize, Jane Barrett; honorable mention, Jeane Davis and Verna Wysongs. The All-Star girls’ basketball team was banqueted by the Girls' Pep Club last Friday. George Buck, principal, was toastmaster. A group of girls, with Virginia Wharton and Lurline Voss, sang several songs.
English Ss were presented to ten girls: Frances Kelly, Martha Armstrong, Gretta Middleton, Violet Grabhorn, Lois Axline, Dorothea Hanna, Maja Brownlee, Katherine Price, Katherine Elzea and Mae Deal. Monograms were presented to Harriet Eberhadt, Angelina* Phillips and Alma Quiesser. ( Shorthand students attended a picnic at the cottage of Josephine West, on White River Monday .afternoon. Students in charge of the arrangements were Margaret Todd, Martha Butler, Mildred Weaver, Constance Roche and Dorothy Schjeslnger.
