CITY ENGINEER NEEDS MONEY Small Appropriation Will Cause Delay. Delay in providing thousands of dollars worth of paving, curbing and sewers, sought by Indianapolis citizens will result from insufficient appropriation for operation of city engineer’s office, Frank C. IJngenfelter, city engineer, declared today. Improvements totalling more than $250,000 are on schedule, following resolutions by property holders presented and approved by the board of works, according to Lingenfelter. Reduction of the staff of inspectors, necessitated by small budget alloted his department, is the chief source of trouble, Lingenfelter declared. Staff last year numbered fifty-five, while now there are only ihirty-flve men employed. EMPLOYES GIVEN RAISE Twenty-one employes of the city park department were granted salary increases ranging from S6O to S3OO a year by the board of park commissioners today. Increase is effective May 1. Board also declared White River Parkway between Washington St. and Oliver Ave. a street, and turned It over to the board of works.
