TROOPSHUNTING ASSASSINS WHO •ATTACKED KINO Two Aids Killed and One Wounded —Boris Leads Defense. Bu United Press , SOFIA, April 15—Troops scoured the countryside around Sofia today seeking six assassins who ambushed •King Boris while the Bulgar monarch was motoring to the capital yesterday. Two aids were killed in the volley and the royal Chauffeur was badly wounded, while a part of King Boris’ mustache was clipped away by a bullet. The king leaped from the automobile and led an attack on the assassins, who escaped. The ambush was laid between Sofia and the town of Orchanie. A hail of fire came without warning from some bushes at the roadside and bullets spat all about the king.

He stopped the automobile as the chauffeur fell wounded. Boris, revolver in hand, led pursuit of the assassins until Orchanie was reached and then dispatched troops to find them. 1 An auto bus, carrying valuable mail nnd wealthy passengers, was following the automobile. It was suggested that the attack might have been aimed against the auto bus. It is thought more likely, however, in view of the fact that General Georgehief was assassinated in Sofia almost simultaneously with the attack, the attempt against King Boris came from revolutionists who are charged with responsibility of numerous assassinations since the overthrow of the Stamboulisky government In 1923. FRIDAY NAMED ARBOR DAY BY GOV. JACKSON But \ny Time in Spring Is Good to Plant, Says Seed Man. Friday has been designated by Governor Jackson as Arbor day. to encourage the planting of trees. But any day in early springtime encourages the home owner to plant not only ttees but shrubbery, climbing vines and seeds, according to Daniel F. Bash of Bash's Seed Store, No. 141 N. Delaware St. "It Is In spring that the city dweller appreciates, more than at any other time, the magic wrought by growing things, and seeß that no really beautiful house Is without a setting of trees or shrubbery,” Bash said. "But a house need not be large to be beautified by planting. In fact, the loveliest effects are frequently seen In the snriU house, where a bloom laden rose gives the final touch of beauty to the entrance porch and drooping spirea, burdened In May with a wealth of white blossoms, breaks the sharp outlines of the foundation. And the fruit trees —without them a house hardly seems a. home. In spring one has the beauty of theit blossoms. In summer and fall the rich harvest of their fruit.” "The earlier the plants and seeds are put out, the sooner the flowers will bloom. Our shrubs have arrived and are In excellent condition—all the plants are large and well-rooted, and the roses are all fancy, field grown stock, which means that they are the hardiest that can he bought. Our prices on the monthly, everb ootning and climbing roses range f-om 50 cents to sl, about one-third lees than such stock costs at the average nursery. It Is a real saving In price without any sacrifice of quality, as any garden lover and home owner will discover by a visit to our store.”

Good paint Is cheapest In the end. Application of a coat of paint at proper intervals will cause a house to last five tb ten times as long as an unpaintod residence. Failure to paint at leas.’ once in four years depreciates value of a property many, times cost of the painting.

Firm Makes Home Owning Easy

Why pay rent? The question Is familiar; the most logical answer is that one can’t afford to buy a home. But even this answer Is illogical and unsatisfactory, in the face of the proposition the Civic Realty Company, 136 N. Delaware St., Is offering Indianapolis folks who really want to bo - property owners. For It Is possible fa man to start with $lO as an mltia. payment on a lot worth from SSOO to S7OO and, in a few years, be living in his own home. A lot can be bought on almost painless payments—usually one per cent a month of the full value, and as soon as It is paid for, the Civic Realty Company will take a mortgage on It as down payment for the home the owner wants to build. The house shown here Is an example of the type of home usually built on a medium priced lot—the type of home that meets the requirements of most families and make the work of the housewife a pleasure instead of a burden. Exterior Attractive The picture shows the attractive exterior, but the interior Is no less pleasing. There Is a homelike living room, opening Into a / sunny dining room through a wide archway. Back of this is a well-ar-ranged and sunlit kitchen, from which an inclosed entryway leads

AUTO LEADS TO MEN’S ARREST Local Pair Held for Questioning in Murder. Bu ''nited Press BLOOMINGTON, Ind., April 16. Ear! Dbbs, 22, and Paul Faulk, 26, both of Indianapolis were being held in jail here today, pending investigation of the shooting of John G. Campbell at Dolan, near here, Sunday. According to an announcement of Sheriff William 8. Curry, who arrested them at Indianapolis Tuesday, the men will be questioned within the next two or three days or as soon as additional evidence is gathered. The men were arrested purely on circumstantial evidence, the sheriff said. The car owned by Faulk was similar to the one described by Campbell just before his death. Campbell was shot in a store at Dolan by a robber who entered by breaking down the rear door. Tx>cal Veteran Promoted Promotion for John H. Ale, who has been subdistrict manager of United States Veterans’ Bureau in Indianapolis, was announced Tuesday. Ale wilt he regional manager of territory formed by Indiana and part of Kentucky. to the basement and rear entrance door. A door from the dinitjg room opens Into a center hallway, and from this the doors to the two bedrooms and the bathroom open, giving desirable privacy to the sleeping rooms. This arrangement, too, gives both bedrooms and the kitchen the advantage of windows on two sides, and the three roomy closets provided in the bedrooms will appeal to any housewife who sees the bungalow plan. Excellent Terms

But even more appealing than the arrangement of the house and (he quality of its construction are terms upon which It is sold. The clear lot Is taken ns the first payment, the balance Is paid at the rate of $36.50 a month —less than one would pay in rent for a home of this kind. More than that, the buyer is free to choose any location lie prefers for his home; he may select the wall "papers and fixtures, decide upon the color he prefers for the exterior and give his bungalow that touch of Individuality that makes of it a real home. And all of this at no more than the cost of living in a rented house and having nothing more to show for his money than a pile of worthless rent receipts.
