SIX ARE HURT IN ONE DAY’S AUTOCRASHES Accident Total Is Fourteen —Police Investigate Cases. Police investigated fourteen accidents Thursday night and early today. Their reports show that six persons were injured. In the investigations of two of the accidents police found evidence of speed and police preferred charges. Police who investigated the accidents said the slippery conditions of the streets aided in causing the collisions. Two of the persons injured were seriously hurt, and one m.’v die. Mrs. Charlotte Maas, 65, of 1409 Spann Ave., is suffering froirr a fractured hip, and her sister, Mrs. Lena Maas, 63, of 1601 English \ve., with a fractured skull, in city hospital today after an automobile struck them. While on their way to attend services at Emmaus German Lutheran Church, Orange and Laurel Sts., the sisters were struck by a machine driven by Robert McCall, 18, 0f_1156 Everson St., at Prospect and Laurel Sts. McCall was slated for assault and battery and held under SI,OOO bond. McCall told police the women were carrying unbrellas .and did not see the approaching machine. Condition of Mrs. Lena Maas is critical and Mrs. Charlotte Mass is serious, it was said at City Hospital today. Mrs. Lena Mass is mother of Motor Policeman Otto Mass. Autos driven by, Miss Betty Prunk, 1514 College Ave., and Paul Crothers, 30, of 1421 N. Alabama St., collided at St. Clair St., and Ft. Wayne Ave. Police say Miss Prunk suffered, an injured hand and wrist. Crothers was charged with assault and battery and improper driving. Taxi, driven by Angelo Raia, 509 Harmon St., struck Frederick P. Nihrbas, 3133 N. Pennsylvania St., as he was crossing the street at Illinois and Georgia Sts., police say, and knocked him to the pavement. Police charged Rala with assault and battery and speeding. Several other minor accidents were reported. FACTIONS ARE BLAMED Letmcke Says Dissension Is Cause of City Manager Move. "There has been too much dissension and factionalism in Indianapolis, and I think this more than any other one thing has sponsored this movement for a city manager form of government," said Ralph A. Lemcke, candidate for Republican nomination for mayor, in a speech Thursday night at 5127 Central Ave. "I want to say if the people of this city want the city manager form of government, and decide so at an election, I will be the first to help the deal along."

Hawkins, indicted Indianapolis broker, filed In Common Pleas Court here, seeks $125,000 from the National Welfare Security Company for alleged breach of consolidation contract. The Hamilton firm, which has branches throughout Ohio, recently went Into receivership. TAX CUT IS CERTAIN Madden Predicts Slash of $350,000,000 After Conference. Madden of Illinois, chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, after a conference with President Coolidge. Attends Uncle’s Funeral Mrs. Charles R. Sowder, 2144 College Ave., attended the funeral of her uncle, Daniel Sprlght Barker, 79, today at this home near Avon, Ind. Burial was to be in Danville, Ind.

An autopsy, performed during the night, indicated death resulted from shock, but that the tubercular infection would have claimed his life within a few days anyhow. J. M. Wilson, his father-in-law, told Prosecutor Owen, he attempted to prevent the ceremony, but was over-ruled by Mrs. McCoy. He said he sought the advice of two physicians and that they told him the least shock might cause McCoy’s death due to his weakened condition. BOY, 7, TAKEN BY POLICE Woman Charges Youth Stole Watch From Her Home. A seven-year-old boy, alleged to have stolen a watch, was arrested by police today, and released when parents guaranteed his appearance in Juvenile Court. According to officers. Miss Ruth Burgen, 2183 N. Eastern Ave., charges the boy entered her home and took a watch and $4 in money. It is said the watch has been traded, and lost.
