The General Electric Company’s eastern station is going to broadcast the howls and growls, bleats and blast, harks and roars, screeches and squeals of the animals of the Bamum & Bailey-Ringling Brothers circus menageries, from Madison Square Garden, New York. WGY, co-operating with WJZ. experimented with circus broadcasting from the "Garden” last year and the animals performed so well that ihey were signed up for a return engagement. A touch of circus atmosphere will be added to by the introduction of one or two musical numbers on the steam calliope.

Short Cuts Things to Know in Building and Operating a Receiver

Make a box-type loop with four celluloid or wood coat hangers and two strips of wood each 24 incheslong. A coat hanger is screwed at the middle to the ends of the wood strips. The two strips are notched in the middle and mortised so each strip will be at right angles to the other. Use 100 feet of single lamp cord for the inductance. Make your set tune to the longer wavelengths by hooking a coil of 20 turns of No. 20 wire in series with the aerial or by connecting ja .0001 Mfd. fixed condenser across the variable condenser and across the aerial and ground binding posts. If the socket binding post is not long enough to hold several loops of bus wire, remove the binding post screw and replace it with a longer one. Use small test clips in making temporary connections whil experimenting with a hookup. They can be snapped on and off in an instant. Tighten a loosened binding post on the panel by putting a lock washer under the nut at the rear of the panel before the nue is secrewed down.
