Marshall, ex-Vice President of the United States, at a memorial service for Dr. Hurty at the Athenaem Tuesday night. "He was the type of American who does good without thought of reward for himself. His purpose was to do good for humanity,” Marshall declared. "Dr. Hurty was one of the great men in Indiana. He was responsible for the present high type of school houses. Although he was called a crank by many, he never stopped until he did what he set out to do." Organizations of which Dr. Hurty was a member Joined the medical societies in the memorial service. Resolutions of condolence, eulogizing the late health commissioner, were adopted. IDEAL FURNACE IS DESIGNED TO PLEASE OWNER Ash Pit and Radiators of New Heating System in One Piece. At this season of the year when birds and bridegrooms are both interested in the nest-building problem. there are many features of home construction to be considered — but many more for the bridegroom than for the bird. For the bird, when winter comes, flys south with his family for the cold season, while the bridegroom has to stay in Indianapolis and fight with the furnace. It therefore behoves the bridegroom to find a furnace that that needs little encouragenment to warm the house, and such a furnace is to be found, appropriately named the New Ideal. It is distributed in Indiana by the Ideal Furnace Supply Company, 1624 Southeastern Ave., and offers features that particularly appeal to every home-planner who recognizes the ideal points In furnace construction. For one thing, the new Ideal ash pit is cast in one solid piece, with |he open end extending through the furnace front, so that there are no joints through which fine ashes and dust can escape into the house through the furnace pipes. This exclusive feature will he appreciated by every housekeeper who has been annoyed by a dust-distributing furnace. The radiator, too, is an Interesting Innovation, the whole unit being cast in one piece, thus eliminating the possibility of gas or smoke. An extra large Inner dome in the radiator and a large, free opening into the circular or indirect flues are factors in increasing efficiency. A special feature of the new Ideal is the one-piece combustion chamber, which, like the ash pit, extends beyond the front of the furnace, thereby eliminating all Joints between the interior of the heater and the air heating chamber, and making the new Ideal the only dust proof and gas proof furnace on the market, according to Earl W. Spackman, distributor. "The initial Investment, the maintenance cost, the clean, invigorating warmth and the minimum at tention required In its operation, make the new Ideal a real source of satisfaction to the user,” Mr. Spackman declared.

Complete Home Built by Powell
Those home-buyers whpse Ideal house is one complete in every way, with nothing needed but the furniture and rugs, will find their ideal realized in the recently completed residence built by Perry Powell at 303 Blue Ridge Road. The house Is for sale by the American Estates Company, and the purchaser needs only to sign the papers, move in his furniture and find himself established in a delightful home. For the builder of this attractive house has not only built a residence complete in every detail, but has gone a step further and given It the real home atmosphere by fitting the windows with curtains and draperies In keeping with the coloring of the rooms. Drapes Furnished In the living and dining room, which like the center entrance hall, are papered In a delicate gray bro cade-patterned paper, the curtains are of silk gauze with overdrapes of blue, rose and gold striped silk. The wooden pole from which the draperies hang is nalnted In the same tone of blue as the color in the silk, and the sliding rings that take the place of a casing, in curtains of a lighter type are rosecolor, matching the rose stripe in the silk. A fireplace of buff brick centers the east wail of the living room, between two windows, and there are double windows at the south end of the room and a double French door on the north, opening onto the unroofed terrace at the front of the house. In the breakfast-room, which connects the kitchen and dining-room on the west, there are gay cretonne draperies, and the pleasant southwest kitchen shows practical yet colorful curtains of blue and white checked gingham, matching the linoleum that covers the floor. Four Bedrooms An attractive stairway, with a wide and well-lighted landing, leads

to the second floor, where there are four pleasant bedrooms and a more than ordinarily well designed bathroom lighted with three windows. Each bedroom is daintily papered and windows are covered with sheer white curtains overdraped with chintz flowered in colors that harmonize with the paper of the room. In all the rooms there are large closets, but the two front rooms are especially charming because of their double mirror-doored closets with huilt-in window seat be Tween. These window' seats, hinged at the top to provide additional storage space, are painted white to match the woodwork of the escond floor, but the mirror doors are framed tn mahogany to contrast with the light walls. Contrast In Fvterior Contrast is seen In the exterior of this satisfying residence also, for the walls are of tapestry brick in the warm brown shades of autumn leaves, while the roof of Espanel tile furnished by O. S. iller A Cos., is of a refreshingly sofi green. Small evergreen trees outline the the terrace, uncovered, except, above the entrance dcor.>■ Here a lowarched sheltering portico is used, finished in a rich dark brown stain such as is se“n in weathered timber, and this dark stain serves also as an effective finish for the rustic garage, into whicli the gravelol driveway leads. In many respects the house is one of the most interesting examples of the square type residences to be seen In Indianapolis, and home builders as well as home buyers will find much of interest in its design, both Interior and exterior. Pretty flood Reason The superintendent was examining a class In geography and addressing a small boy In the back row, he asked: “Now, sonny, would it be possible for your father to walk around the earth?" “No, sir," replied the boy, promplv. “Why not?” asked the inspector. "Because he fell down and hurt his leg yesterday."—The Pathfinder.

LYMAN BROS. PICTURES MAKE HOME COMPLETE Bowls, Lamps, Book-Ends Found in Store on E. Ohio St. The "home complete” is never really complete without those final touches that give life and color to a room —pictures, gay pottery bowls, lamps, book-ends, a quaint and colorful cage for the canary, mirrors, candlesticks —all of the dozens of delightful accessories that reflect the taste of the homemaker and transform the house into a real home. India uaiMjlis is fortunate, therefore, in having such a store as that of Yyman Bros., 223 E. Ohio St., where one may find pictures, pottery, lamps and mirrors, as well as many other ornamental aids to the furnishing of an attractive room. Pictures Important The pictures in a home, however, do more than anything else to add color and give character to the walls, and in this department, according to William H. Lyman, the firm is prepared to meet the needs of any customer, whatever may be his tastes or requirements. The framed pictures fill large display screens that extend across the entire depth of the showroom, and on them may be found pictures of every sort from dainty Wallace Nutting tinted photographs to large and heeautifully done landscapes In oil, suitable In size and coloring to fill the position of honor above the living room fireplace. Tapestries Shown Imported tapestries. too. ate shown in a wide variety of coloring and design. In both the framed and unframed panels, and any number of those to be seen would add a touch of distinction to the entrance hall or living room. There is a beauty and romance about tapestry that has caused it to be treasured for Its ornamental value since the middle ages, when all tapesrries were patiently woven by harwl, but the present day pieces are no less lovely, though less laboriously constructed. In brief, to paraphrase a popular slogan, it might be said that Lyman Bros, show "A picture for every purpose, at a price for every purse.”
