OLD TIMES RECALLED Fletcher Place Congregation Observes Fifty-First Birthday. Recollections covering ruore than half a century were recounted by members of the congregation of the Fletcher Place M. E Church, in observation of its fifty-first birthday Sunday. Several former pastors of the church, together with former superintendents, took part In the program. Dr. M. B. Hyde, assisted bv the Rev. W. H. Brightmire, both former pastors, conducted the morn tag services. The Rev. J. B. Mehafi'ey, pastor, and E. Bert Allen, superintendent, were in charge of the program. Dr. George S. Henninger was in charge of a "love feast" service The Rev. C. C. Edwards of Franklin, Ind., former pastor, reviewed history of the Fletcher Place Church from the time of Its foundation In 1874 to the present. CHRISITAK IT IS SCIENTIFIC \ _____ Rev. Bo linger Urges We Should Seek Jesus, Himself. "The Bible does not exho.t us to seek a peculiar religious experience; It tells us we should seek Jesus, Himself,” declared Rev. W. W. Bollinger, pastor of the Edwin Ray M. E. church, in a sermon Sunday. "Christian faith is not a leap into the dark but it is in line with the most exacting scientific methods," he said. "Science reaches conclusions through the accuracy of experiments. The process of seeking and knowing Christ is no different.” START WITH CHILDREN “Church Must Lead Young to Fear God”—The Rev. Knierim. “When you realize that the crime wave sweeping the country today is being perpetuated by young persons, it looks as if the youth of America no longer fear God," asserted the Rev. William H. Knierim in a sermon Sunday morning at the Immanuel Reformed Church, Prospect and S. New Jersey Sts. There are 26,000,000 children in the United States who do not attend any kind of Sunday school, he said. “If we want high ideals to be maintained in our country forever, we will always have to start with the little children," the Rev. Knierim declared. ONLY SOUL WORTH WHILE! “The wall of death Is too high for any of us to climb over and take the world with us," declared Rev. W. J. Clarke of Sparta, Ky., in a sermon at North Park Christian Church Sunday. His subject was "What Shall It Profit a Man If He Gain the Whole World and Lose His Own Soul?" "Ttye only thing *n the world worth while Is the development of man’s soul, and not the piling up of material wealth." CHRIST GREATEST MEDIATOR "Jesus Christ is the world’s greatest mediator,” deck-red B. L. Allen in a sermon Sutilay at the Brightwood Church of Christ. “He was not welcome at the time He came into the world, but now He is our greatest intercessor. Every prayer should be given in His name."
