When the President Arthur of the American-Palestine line leaves New York on the initial trip for the Holy Land, Rebecca Adelman and Bernice Schmitt will be on board in gorgeous blue uniforms with gold trimmings, the former as assistant purser, the latter as warrant officer. For the first time In maritime history women are to be given places as officers on an oceangoing vessel.
