COLLINS QUESTION MARK IN MAJOR LEAGUE FLAG CHASE
By BILLY EVANS SHREVEPORT, March 13.—Will Eddie Collins, greatest second baseman of all time, be a success as manager? I desire to go on record as predicting he ■will. I want to be one of those “I-told-you-so’s.” Collins absolutely refuses to turn prophet. His only future booking Is that the Chicago White Sox will not finish last. "I am convinced that the fans are not Interested In winning the pennant In March,” says Eddie. "They judge you on where you finish in October. It Is the team that wins the most games and loses the least that goes over the wire a winner. “I am proud to be at the head of the Chicago White Sox. It is composed of a great bunch of fellows. I know, I have been one of them for years, am still one. To Give Best "I know they are all for me. I know they are going to give me their beet. When we are beaten It will be because tbe other club has played bettef ball. ”I figure this Is my big chance. Os late years I have wanted to take a whirl at managing a ball club. Old opportunity has arrived and I am going to try to make the most of it. “There was a certain thrill when I was named manager of the White Sox but It in no way com-
