SEEK DEMOCRATIC PARLEYFOR CITY Greathouse to Go to Washington Tuesday. Charles A. Greathouse, Democratic national committeeman, wll lconfer with Clem Shaver, national chairman of the Democratic party, at Washington Tuesday with reference to bringing the national Democratic get-to-gether conference to Indianapolis, he said today. Greathouse said he would use every Influence to bring the conference here, although up to this time he had heard nothing definite from any of the party leaders. Franklin D. Roosevelt has proposed a harmony program in an Informal conference to be held at Indianapolis probably in April or May. United States Senator Samuel M. Ralston Is using his influence to bring the conference here, and, according to dispatches, Senate Democrats are enthusiastic over the proposal. professing to believe that a successful harmony conference would pave the way for many successes in the 1926 elections when anew House and one-third of the Senate are to be chosen. Thomas Taggart, veteran Hoosier Democratic leader, now at Miami, Fla.. Is seeking to bring the conference to Indiana., and has offered to entertain delegates at his French Lick resort. 1
DECREASE SEEN IN MLS 175,000 Income Returns Estimated, Approximately 175,000 Income tax returns will be filed by midnight Monday, according to M. Bert Thurman, collector of Internal revenue for Indiana. About 210.000 were filed last year, Thurman said. The decreased number Is expected because of a higher exemption figure, $2,500 for married men. Collector’s office will be open until 9 p. m. tonight, Friday, Saturday, and until midnight Monday, Thurman said, except from 5 to 7 each evening when the deputies go to supper. Only 31.400 returns had been filed Tuesday, reports show. Os these 21.800 were for Individuals making less than $5,000 a year; 8,700 for those making over $5,000 and 900 were for corporations. All but 1,400 of those filing returns for Incomes less than $5,000 paid their entire taxes when they filed the return, reports show. Two Republicans File William Maxson. 907 N. OFFICIALS SILENT ABOUT SHAKE-UP < Highway Mombers Refuse to Discuss Conference, Persistent silence held forth In offices of the Indiana State highway commission today regarding the conference Wednesday between Governor Jackson and members of the commission. Despite report that part of the discussion was on possible resignation of members of the road’s body, nothing could be learned definitely. Earl Crawford, of Milton, Ind., was the only member of the commission at the Statehouse today, Commissioners Alvin V. Burch, of Evansville. C Charles Zeigler, of Attica and Walter G. Zahrt, of Ft. Wayne, having returned to their homes. CHa.tting with Crawford was George Bartley, former head of the highway commission’s garage. Who, with Crawford, John D. Williams, director of the commission, and three other men, Is under indictment in connection with the sale by the commission of surplus war materials. Bartley explained he was making a “friendly call.”

Although there has been a fairly high rate of colds, respiratory infection and grippe In Indianapolis in the last five weeks, there have been fewer cases of pneumonia than usual at this time of the year, and there has been little of the true type of Influenza, Dr. Morgan said. “Every year tarings anew train of symptoms of respiratory diseases,” Dr. Morgan said. "It 'does not follow that anew disease has been discovered.” The Chicago disease Is characterized by aching pains, burning sensation of the eyes, prostration, high temperatures and nose-bleeding.
