made fat by the goodness of a‘law that only abides its time before shunting me down a long barred corridor to take my life. • Each day the shadows through* the bars grew longer. Soon the law will have pxacted its penalty. But will the law have served the community—will my death right a wrong? Two wrorgs do not make a right. If I today had the millions I once had would I be in deajth row? Would I be waiting here to suffer the experience all men dread—death? Most murders are committed on the spur of the moment, with no thought of consequences. For example: Murders committed during a hold-up are certainly done on the impulse of the moment, in defense of the criminal's life or liberty. That of tha wife-murderer is done during a fit of anger or Jealousy, induced in most cases by believed unfaithfulness. Murder is clearly a case of temporary insanity. And then there is the danger that exists for the innocent man.

In those States where capital punishment does not exist, the State has a chance at a later date to rectify a. wrong, , I face death, with but few friends. All because fate decreed to tear from under me all that which I had built—turning me back from a trail of good to a trail of bad.
