HORACE FLETCHER BURIAL SATURDAY Retired Livestock Man Dies After Long Illness. Horace H. Fletcher, 68, of Mooresvllle, retired livestock commissioner ,at Union Stock Yards for thirty years, who diM Thursday at Methodist Hospital after a lengthy illness, will be burled in Crown Hill Cemetery, Saturday, following services at 2 p. m. at Hockensmith Chapel, 728 N. Illinois St. The Rev. Jean S. Milnue, pastor of Second Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Mr. Fletcher, who was the grandson of Calvin Fletcher, early settler, was born on the Fletpher farm, now a part of Brightwood. He was graduated from Northwestern Christian University, now Butler University. In 1888 he was admitted to the bar and practiced law for several years. He was a member of Columbia Club, Indiana Pioneers’ Society, Sigma Chi Fraternity, First Presbyterian Church and Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Fletcher is survived by the widow, a daughter, Miss Elizabeth Fletcher, and two sisters, Miss Emily Fletcher and Mrs. Sarah Wagner, both of Indianapolis.

NEWSPAPER MAN NAMED Donald Hoover Made Postmaster at St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.* Donald D. Hoover, 3010 MacPherson Ave., an Indianapolis, newspaper man, formerly with The Indianapolis Times, has received an appointment from Harry New, Postmaster General, to the office of postmaster at St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. END OF SCHOOL STRIKE IS SEEN Negotiations Under Way at Lafayette. Bv United Press LAFAYETTE, Ind., Feb. 20. Strike of 750 of 860 high school students here will be short lived, school officials stated today. Negotiations were under way for the early return of the students to classes. Trouble, which started more than a year ago when superintendent of schools submitted a set of rules governing athletics, culminated when the school board accepted the resignation of Fritz J. Grosshans, athletic director, and dismissed him as a teacher as well. He resigned when a rule was put In force providing that all checks from the athletic find be signed by the principal. Gros. hans had signed them before. Grosshans was popular with the students, due to his success In developing basketball teams. He will not be reinstated, school board officials emphatically declare.
