PATROLMAN ELMER BRANCH | ' TATROLMAN ELMER P BRANCH, 32, of 408 E. * 1 St. Clair St., one of the present administration appointees, already has proved a good acquisition to the police department. Almost immediately after going to work In April, 1922, Branch was assigned to District 19, known as one of the hardest districts to cover In the city. Coal thieves were stealing unrestrained from the Nickel Plate Railroad, near Nineteenth St, In a short time Branch had them pretty well in hand. Since then he has driven an auto over four Brightwood districts, During February he can be seen daily between 7 a, m, -and 3 p. m. in District 12, bounded by English Ave., Tenth St., Emerson Ave, and > the Belt Railroad, “If any more of the trouble breaks out in District i9 such as we had recently when railroad detectives were shot at, we shall place Branch back there in all probability," Po> llece Chief Rlkhoff said today, “He knows how to handle them,"
