SOCIAL SATURDAY AT LIBERTY HALL First Event Set in New Community Clubhouse. The first social event in Liberty Hall Community Bldg.. 3208 E. Michigan St., will be held Saturday evening, President E. M. Hardin announced today.The first and second floors are practically complete and the brick work for the third and fourth floors is In place. When completed the clubhouse will have ten stories and will cost approximately $300,000. Dedication is expected March 4. Public is invited to view the foyer, lounging rooms and gymnasium Saturday evening. Te De Molay basketball team will play a Technical High School five and two teams from the Hottentots, said to be the fastest girls’ basketball organization in the State, will play an exhibition game. Miss Eevelyn Boyd, 2209 E. Tenth St., will give readings. Dancing, with Reimer’s Blue Devil Orchestra playing, will last until midnight. CONTRACTOR SUMMONED Funeral of Monroe W. Bailey to Be Helt, Thursday. Funeral aervices for Monroe W Bailey,’62, of 947 Shelby St., build-' ing contractor for thirty years, who died Thursday, will be held at 2 p. m. Saturday at Wilson funeral parlors. 1230 Prospect St. Burial in. Crown Hill Cemetery. Mr. Bailey is survived by two daughters. Miss Irene Bailey and Mrs. J. V. Stapp, both of Indianapolis. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Masons and Odd Fellows. CUSTOMER IS BANDIT Butcher Forced to Turn Over $lO to Sausage Purchaser, Abraham Bornstein, proprietor of a butcher shop at 927 S. Illinois St., started to hand a dime to a colored customer who had just purchased sausage and paid with a quarter. Instead Bornstein h. nded him over $lO. The “customer” had a revolver thrust at the butcher. Mrs. Sarah Richmond. 1317 Charles St., told Lieutenant Thomas she thought a smaller man was with the bandit and stood watch on the outside. Zoerclier Opposes Measure Phillip Zoercher, member of the State tax board, termed the $2,000 mortgage exemption bill both unequal and unconstitutional in an address before the Batesville Chamber of Commerce Thursday night. Zoercher said it would increase the tax rate and precipitate an undue burden on the small taxpayer.
