In a note sent the President* **Ma" asked him “as a favor to the Governor of Texas” to permit Mrs. Anastacas Kostas, aged Greek immigrant, to remain with her children in Hous- . ton, Texas. Mrs. Kostae was barred from residence in this country because of the immigration quota regulations. . ' l “Ma” wants the President to let Mm. Kostas stay and be entered in the next quota. This request Is in line with the new Governor's policy of sentiment in government affairs w hich has riled legislators. “Ma” announced she intended to put something of a woman's mercy in dealing with Texas convicts. NEW ENUMERATION PUN •i . Evansville Superintendent Proposes Listing <f? Pupils. J. O. Chewning, Evansville superintendent of schools, today presented to the State board of education in its monthly meeting a plan for anew school enumeration law which would base the count on number of pupils attending school and not on the number of children of school age In a municipality regardless of whether or not they go to school, as at present. Chewning asserted the new plan would enable Evansville to retain its representation on the State board. If the board adopts the plan, it will be presented to Legislature.
