TRESTER ISSUES LIST OF > 1925 BASKET TOURNEYS Indianapolis Center Winner to Compete at Anderson — Number of Semi-Fina I Net Meets Increased. By Times Special ANDERSON, Ind., Jan. 22.—Secretary Trester of the Indiana State High School Athletic Association today announced sixty-four sectional centers and eight regional centers for the playing of the 1925 State high school basketball championship. Team entries close Feb. 23. The State finals tourney will be held at Indianapolis March 20 and 21.

Regional meets, March 14, will be staged at Anderson, Evansville, Ft, Wayne, Frankfort, Gary, Kokomo, Martinsville and Richmond. Only three regionals were held last year. Baseball experts do not believe Gregg will he of much use to Harris. On the other hand, Harris figures any left-handed pitcher who can get the hall over has a chance In the American League. For a southpaw Gregg is noted for his good control and .should be able to satisfy Harris in that respect.

Cathedral High School defeated the Gibault netters of Vincennes on Wednesday night at the K, of C. hall, after a hard fight, 18 to 17. Both teams played on even terms throughout the game. The score at the half time was knotted at 8 all. Costello and Gill were the outstanding players for the locals on the offense with four and three field goals, respectively. Daily and Kilfoil were the best for Gibault. In a curtain-raiser the Cathedral Juniors nosed out the W r estern Union five in a fast one, 18 to 16. TECH FIVE TARES OVERTIME SCRAP West Newton Gives Locals Hard Battle, Trailing five points to begin the second half, the Technical High School netters came through with p 34 to 32 overtime win over the West Newton team at the east side gym Wednesday. Ten seconds before the final gun sounded Hickman knotted the score at 80-all and In the overtime period registered two under the basket while the 1924 county champs were getting one. In the first ten minutes of play the visitors ran the count to 12 to 2 before the Green and White could rally their forces. The half ended 18 to 18 in favor of the visitors. Hickman made eighteen of Tech’s points with eight field goals and two from the foul line. Wehrel played a good floor game and dropped in three baskets. Barnett and Edwards were best for West Newton. Tech Is at Bnownsburg Friday night and meets Franklin at the local “Y” Saturday. STRIBLING IS WINNER Dixie Boxer Outpoints Jimmy Delaney of St. Paul. By United Press GRAND RAPIDS. Jan. 22.—Young Stribling, Macon (Ga.), light heavyweight, outpointed Jimmy Delaney of St. Paul in a speedy ten rounder, Wednesday night. Delaney’s left kept the Georgia youth at a distance at first, but in the sixth round Stribling jolted Jimmy to the canvas with a stiff right. Delaney hopped to his pins without a count, and managed to weather the storm. BENEFIT GAME FOR K. P. Proceeds of Net Contest to Go Toward Building Fund. By Times Special NEW PALESTINE, Ind., Jan. 22. —The New Palestine unit of the Knights of Pythias lodge will sponsor a basket game Jan. 27, the proceeds of which will go toward the building of the proposed new K. P. hoipe for orphans and aged. The game will be played at Moral Township gym (four miles south >f New Palestine), between New Palestine Red Birds and Stone’s Crossing K. P. five. The Red Birds have won twentyfour games and the Stones Crossing K. P. team has won fifteen straight.

TWO MORE MARRS FOR SPEEDY FINN Crowd Goes Wild Whsn Nurmi Sets Records, By United Press NEWARK, N. J., Jan. 22.—Paavo Nurmi, world’s champion runner, made his tenth new world’s record here Wednesday night when he ran away from two fellow Finns and established new marks for 2*4 miles and 2?i miles. Five thousand spectators saw him win the feature events of the games at the St. Joseph Catholic Club and he was almost mobbed when the new records were announed. Nurmi started from scratch behind Gunnar Nilson and Ilmar Prim, who were given a handicap' of 150 yards. Nurmi quickly overtook them and set the pace as he wished. He took a shot at the 2%-mile record, but missed it by 4-5 seconds.

JACK DOWNS CARPENTER Reynolds Scores Mat Victory in Fast Bout at Broadway. Ray Carpenter, Ohio wrestler, put up a stiff encounter with Jack Reynolds at the Broadway Theater Wednesday night, but lost after a sensational struggle. Carpenter won the first fall in 26 minutee 27 seconds. When the matmen returned for the second fall the pace grew hot and finally Carpenter tumbled through the ropes and into the orchestra pit. The Buckeye was allowed ten minutes’ rett, but he soon fell a victim to Jack’s tricks and was unable to continue after Reynolds gained a fall. 1 Reynolds meets Tony Ross at catch weights in Bloomington tonight. MORE SEA TS FOR CROWD AT TITLE NET TOURNEY High School Committee Decides to Stage Sectional and Championship Play in New Structure, The local high school committee in charge of the staging of the Indianapolis sectional and State final basket tourneys decided today to *ise the Exposition building at the Fairground for the big Hoosier net feature. Local sectional and State finals will be held there. After careful consideration of the possibilities of the Exposition building and after checking over the architect’s plans with the city building inspector, final decision was reached.

Fred Gorman of Technical, chairman of the committee which is comprised of the athletic directors of all tHe local public high schools, announced that seating capacity in the Exposition building would be 14,000 with permanent bleachers in place. There will be standing room for 6,000 at one end. At Coliseum Heretofore Plans call for bleachers thirtyseven rows high on three sides of the playing floor. The playing court will be the same size as the one used In the Coliseum,-zvhere the tourney has been held heretofore. The contract with the State Board of Agriculture was to be signed today. The use of the Exposition building will Increase the capacity for the finals from about 11,000 to 20,000. There will be approximately 5,000 more seats for the fans and the overcrowding at the Coliseum will be done away with. Sectional March 6-7 The bleachers in the new structure will be put in place for the local sectional meet, which is played March 6 and 7. The date of the championship meet are March 20 and 21. It will be Impossible to have the building ready fqdfche Butler and Franklin College Feb. 14.
