Workman, retiring president and secretary, were both made recipients of beautiful gold auxiliary badges at the Intallation of office re at the Central Christian Church Jfueeday morning. Plans for auxiliary betterment vwe discussed. Mrs. O. D. Oliphant, national president, was honor guest a.t the luncheon. Mrs. Frank Long gave musical numbers. Mrs. Edna M. Barcus, past national committee woman and department president, and Mrs. H.'Nathan Swaim were color bearers. Mrs. Glackman turned over the gavel to Mrs. Charles E. Combs with a talk and good wishes for success. Mrs. Combs has had splendid results In organizing district units. Mrs. A. F. Head, president John Holliday unit, will announce a meeting soon. Mrs. H. Nathan Swaim, retiring council president, Is succeeded by Mrs. Hodge Worsham. Mrs. Workman . has planned to visit a number of Veteran Bureau Hospitals during January. Mrs. Workman was recently appointed on the advisory board of the national rehabilitation committee of the American Legion. She has made anumber of trips through Government hospitals. Fifty-three departments will be present at the Jan. 14 national executive board meeting in Indianapolis. Mrs. Morgan served for a year as National Child Welfare Work chairman. She is succeeded by Mrs. Winifred Calihan of Garden City, Kan. Mrs. Calihan will attend. Representatives of the Eight and Forty will be present, Including Mrs. Barcus. Mrs. Barcus has issued a number of Eight and Forty charters recently. Two Indiana, units will soon be organized, one at Lawrenceburg and another at Terre Haute.

LEO KORETZ DIES IN IOLIET PRISON Wife Fails to Reach Bedside Before End, Bu United Press JOLIET, 111., Jan. 9.—Leo Koretz, Chicago arch swindler, who secured approximately $2,000,000 from hundapds of persons, is dead. Koretz died in the jail here Thursday night from diabetes after serving one month and five days of his sentence of from one to ten years. The swindler’s wife, who previously had refused to see her husband, tried to reach his bedside when notified her husband was dying. Koretz, however, died an hour before she arrived.
