CAR MEN FREED IN WRECK PROBE Indictments in Alfont Crash Dismissed, Bv Times Svecial ANDERSON, Ind., Jan. 9 —lndictments charging involuntary manslaughter brought against Rollin Flynn, motorman and Charles Sawyer, conductor, both of Muncie, as a result of the head-On crash of two Union Traction Company interurbans at Alfont, Ind., Feb. 2, 1924, were dismissed by Judge W. A. Kittinger in Circuit Court here *oday on grounds of insufficient evidence. Seventeen persons were known dead in the wreck. Judge Kittinger held the indictments were faultily constructed, but stated his action did not prevent new Indictments or further investigation. Flynn and Sawyer were in charge of east-bound car which crashed into an inbound car, after, it is alleged, it had passed two switches against orders. CENTRAL W.C.T.U. GATHER FORCES Reaffirm Opposition to Child Labor Amendment. Reaffirming a resolution adopted at their last meeting, which put them on record as “deploring the fact that so many women’s organizatione have Indorsed the child labor amendment” and protesting against any further amending of the constitution,” the Central W. C. T. U. gathered their forces against the measure at a meeting Friday afternoon at the Fletcher American Bank Bldg. Mrs. W. W. Reedy, president, said
“such centralization of the power over the youth of America is unnecessary, and even if not used to its fullest extent now, is a dangerous thing for the future.” She also stated that the lawyers of the county are against the amendment, the Scientech Club,. Chamber of Commerce, Medical Association and the Engineers’ Association. The Central W. C. T. U. has opposed the stand of the national organization,' which has indorsed the measure.
