’MS A GREAT CHRISTMAS,’ SAYS ALL INDIANAPOLIS Biting Cold Failed to Stop Annual Holiday Observances. Mr. and Mrs. Indianapolis and all the younger Indianapolises stole grudgingly from beneath piles of quilts and blankets today and. facing another day of biting cold, yawned. “Well it was a great Christinas." With new Christmas shirts, socks, ties and other stock presents, Mr. Indianapolis drifted cityward to take up the day's work after the holiday of family dinners. Christmas carolers. exchange of presents and joy in watching the youngsters with new toys. A Littered Household Mrs. Indianapolis contemplated a littered household, with toys and bright colored paper and boxes strewing the floor and toys everywhere. Not the least of her problems was the pine needles covering the rugs about the Christmas tree. Young Indianapolis renewed their acquaintances with gifts from Santa Claus, some already broken, and in many cases fathers vied with sons in examining the mysteries of mechanical toys. Indianapolis churches were well attended despite the round of family dinners and Christmas sermons was j the order of the day. Members of Boy Scout Troop ] 75. of Meridian Heights Presbyterian 1 Church, in charge of Scoutmaster Clarence E. Hughes, entertained about fifty convalescent patients at Robert Long Hospital, Thursday! night with a Christmas party. Carolers entertained patients at j Sunnyside. a candle light breakfast was served and gifts distributed among the patients, from various civic and fraternal organizations. The Elks entertained about 2,000 ! children at a theater party at the Circle Thursday morning. 100 Overcoats Given L. Strauss & Cos., clothiers, fur- i nirhed 100 overcoats through the ! Catholic Community Center, Family Weifare Society, and the Jewish Federation. Open house was held at Riley Hospital and a big Christmas dinner was served the little patients.
