This year 29,761 children availed themselves of the service. Four-fifths used branch libraries. “Townspeople's appreciation of the library is increasing. The reference department is becoming a ‘court of last appeal' for folks seeking Information," Rush said. Each of the 343,120 volumes were borrowed on an average of almost five times, statistics show. Over 200,000 more books were read this year than last. Children borrowed 45,117 more than last year.
