ELEPHANTS SHOW TEMPERAMENT SO New Pachyderms Take Trunks and Leave, By Timet Special PERU. Ind., Dec. 19.—Elephant temperament Is costing the American Circus Corporation, which has winter headquarters here. Hagenbeck-Wallace shows recently sent thirteen elephants to the headquarters. Everything was lovely until Sells-Floto shows of the same corporation came In with flftten of the big animals. The thirteen Hagenbeck elephants became surly on the evident theory that they were there first. Battles followed and became so serious, it was decided to send the Sells-Floto animals to other winter quarters at West Baden. In their place elephants belonging to the Wallace Shows are being transferred here. If the Hagenbeck elephants don't like the Wallace pachyderms—Jerry Mugavln. president of the corporation, holds up his hands helplessly.

Quarries of the Bedford-Bloomington district yielded up ten million cubic feet of limestone this year before winter weather forced a suspension of activities. This amount was little short of the banner year of 1923, when nearly eleven million cubic feet of the building material were quarried.
