COFFIN-LEU LINE-UP LIKELY Two Lead G, 0, P, Factions in City, George V. Coffin versus Ralph A. Lemcke. This Is the likely line-up in the race for Republican city chairman, according to political leaders today. Lemcke is the candidate of the Shank-Armitage-Jewett-Lemcke faction. while Coffin is the candidate of the Coffin-Dodson crowd. Neither candidate has made a formal announcement, but it is taken for granted by precinct committeemen they will be the men and organizations are being lined up with Lemcke and Coffin as leaders. Coffin Is now Republican county chairman. An opinion that will have an important bearing on the city chairmanship Is that of tV. tV. Spencer, election board member. who declared city council has the power to fix precinct boundaries for the city election. According to plans, approximately twenty-five additional precincts are to be added to the city, the city chairman to name the committeemen. Irving tV. Lemaux. friend of Lemcke, is present city chairman. Some contended this was the duty of the county commissioners. LODGE IS HELD EXEMPT Attorney Ivesh Submits Opinion on Taxation. The resignation wa sth result of an ultimatum from Orr that no examiner may engage in outside practice which may later be subject to review by the board. SCHOOL‘SLEUTH’ HELD FOR PLOT Charged With Trying to Wreck Dixie Flier, Bp I'nited Press TERRE HAUTE, Ind., Dec. 16. Lester Black. 20. of this city, a graduate of a correspondence school for detectives, is in jail here and his older brother, Floyd, is being hunted by authorities as a result of an alleged attempt to wreck the Dixie Flyer on the C. & E. 1., north of here early Sunday. Black will be arraigned before United States Commissioner Randel here Thursday, after which he will be taken to Indianapolis, -where he will face Federal Judge Anderson. The Black brothers, after breaking into a tool house north of the city, tore loose a west rail, swung it to the east. The fast south-bound train, running late, was beat to the gap by a slow northbound train, which, when passing over the “swung rail,” pushed it back into place. The brothers were arrested here Sunday morning and while being taken to jail, the older brother broke loose and made his escape in the downtown district.
