Economy of Using Left-Overs Seen in First Lady's Recipes

By SEA Service • TTrl ASHING'BpN, Dec. 12. Good old-fashioned thrift L and economy are apparent in two of the favorite recipes of Mrs. Coolidge, our first lady of the land. She does not scruple to use the left-over coffee or the mashed potatoes, though she disguises them so effectively that the family never mind. Here are her own directions for making coffee souffle and New England doughnuts: Coffee .Sniffle Mix one and one-half cups of coffee, one tabiespoonful gelatin, one-third cup granulated sugar

WOMEN BATHE IN TEA Bath Said to Produce Expensive “Beach Tanned” Skin. By Time* Special PARIS, Dec. 12. Anna Held's milk baths have been gone one better by some Parisian beauties, not averse to publicity, who are filling their tubs with tea. The idea was greeted with great laughter when first heard of, hut its advocates explained that the doctors assured them the pores of the skin acted as -o many little mouths, and they had concluded that if the stimulation of ,:ea was worth while when taken internally it ought to have a wonderful effect if the whole body could have a chance at it.

Jack Miner’s bird sanctuary here was the calling place recently of a flock of about 200 wild swans on their way South for the winter. White swans in their wild state were almost extinct in Canada a few years ago. Lately, however, numbers of them have been making the sanctuary a port of call on their way North in the spring, but seldom stop on their way down South.
