Vice president Charles O. Dawes has accepted vice chairmanship of honorary committee headed by President Calvin Coolidge for American Legion endowment fund of $5,000,000 for disabled soldiers and orphans, it was announced at national headquarters of American Lesion. American Federation of Labor has indorsed the campaign. Mrs. Coolidge is also committee member. Work of collecting the fund will be expedited as much as possible because there are some 6.000 orphans in need. Mrs. O. D. Gliphant, national auxiliary president, was chief speaker at Seventh District Council meeting Thursday. Mrs. Oiiphant, Mrs. James A. Drain, Miss Dess B. Wetherholt, Mrs. Dorothy Harper, and Mrs. Hazel 1,. Workman, Indiana department secretary, were guests of honor at an executive committee tea. Mrs. X. Nathan Stvaim, president, was assisted by Mrs. Kathryn Fitter, Mrs. Fae Nisley, Mrs. Charles T. Dutier, Miss Jean Coffin. Mrs. Arthur Walters, Mrs. B. F. Whitaker and Mrs. J. I’. Ragsdale Mrs. William V. Speakman, Wilmington. Department presidents are asked to appoint a Fidae chairman. Mrs. Lillian Townes, national chairman, urges each department officer to familiarize herself with pages 6, 7 and Sos 1923 auxiliary hand hook. Model unit will meet Friday at 11 a. m. to prepare for exemplification of ritual, to take place next week for national vice president, who will be in Indianapolis at a national conference. Thurston attended the tea given by Mrs. Dwight E. Aultman, at Regimental headquarters, Ft. Harrison, Wednesday, in honor of Mrs. Oiiphant and Mrs. Drain. At the Seventh District Council business meeting Thursday Mrs. G. I. Seybert, county welfare chairman, outlined plans for providing Christmas cheer for needy families of exservice men. Each unit delegate reported. Mrs. Arthur Robinson, hospital chairman, told of plans for extending Christmas cheer to disabled soldiers and Mrs. Willard S. Boyle detailed plans for World War orphans. At a meeting of the Robert E. Kennington unit No. ?4 Monday 1923 officers were nominated as follows: Mrs. R. E Kennington, president; Mrs. Earl Ferguson, first, and Mrs. Hazel Pftueger. second vice presidents; Mrs. C. E. Peterson, secretary.
