Weekly Book Review Hooker Qives Proof Universal Peace Can Be Obtained on Earth
By WALTER D. HICKMAN 1 N obtaining universal peace, James Hooker in "The Road l____ to Universal Peace" points out that mJfe a peace depends upon the individual. Such books are difficult to review, as far as I am concerned, because it generally creates religious and doctrinal arguments. We are past the day when we refuse to read arguments which seem to be contrary to our way of thinking and our be liefs. To those who have not closed the mental door of individual thought, Hooker's new book will be welcomed. I am not afraid to read and digest old and new thoughts. Every ex | perience that I have in becoming j acquainted with new ideas actually j increases my horizon of life. Hooker has a practical idea in obtaining peace. He puts it squarely jup to the individual. lie has given me a "lot of ground for serious thought. "Christ not only printed out through Ills many precepts the road to peace." Hooker writes, “ami the means by which it was to be successfully traveled. He journeyed the road Himself while on earth and proved to us it could be traversed. He demonstrated His precepts by His living example. In this manner lie put it up to the individual to attain peace."
, Again Hooker states: "Universal I peace cannot be established in the world upon hungry stomachs and empty pockets, through enmity and strife. It must be done by the helping hand Unit can point nut the way to peace and lead the world to it. “The means that are fundamentally necessary for successfully carrying out any program of perma nent universal peace lie wholly within, not without. They are subjective, not objective. They are spiritual. not physical. They are special, not general—they are individual." Book of Genesis Lately all classes of readers have been giving serious thought of the Bible, especially creation of the heavens and the earth. Hooker devotes much attention

j to this subject while discussing the i Book of Genesis. In presenting this | subject Hooker has gone to great ; length in bringing the reader to a more intimate bnowledge of the creation. "The involution and evolution of the universe may be likened to a farmer in the process of cultivating. He first involutes, that is, he pre- | pares the soil for the seed-bed and I sows the grain. This is the end of ■ I involution, after which it rests for a j ! period and settles down. Evolution i j then begins, and through its divine laws, rules and regulations, pro- j duces the harvest. * * *" Again, we have this thought:! "When God created the heavens and i the earth. He created them spiritually and made them physically. He created all things that He created and made, in a duality of existence.” Another thought: “The teachings of Christ are not understood by the masses today.” Hooker, who is now in and of Indianapolis, has written a hook which will demand serious attention. He
