Perhaps you have several questions you would like to ask about the Community Fund. Here are several questions that have been asked—and the answers. You may ask, “How does any one know in advance how much the Community Fund should be? Who sets the quotas?” Or— I ‘‘How is the money spent? Who spends it? How do I know that my gift will go to charity and not be used up in needless red tape and administrative expense? Or—'Why should I give to the Community Fund?” Here are the answers: The thirty-nine local social agencies and charities which depend wholly or in part

upon the Community Fund for their support make their requests for the appropriation they desire to carry on their work for the ensuing year to the Budget and Distribution Committee for consideration. Increases over last year are challenged by the Committee and allowed when the necessity is proved. When the budgets are all carefully calculated, the total is the campaign goal for the year. Disbursements are made in accordance with the budgets allowed by the Budget Committee, subject to the approval of the Board of Directors, elected by the contributors you YOURSELF, and all the rest of them. W T hy should you contribute to the Community Fund? Because it is everybody’s job! Once each year EVERYBODY gratefully gives thanks for his own good fortune and passes on a portion of his bounty to those whom life is passing by.
