Go notrh on Meridian St. to the canal: 'urn right to State road No l through Westfield. Kokomo. Peru. R'oohestor and Plymouth to South Re::<i. The road is paved from Indianapolis to fourteen miles north of Kokomo. From fourteen miles north of Kokomo to Peru a dttour is marked over gravle roads: from Peru to Plymouth the road is gravel, then paved from Plymouth to South Bend. Distance 143 miles Indiana vs. Wabash at Rloomingion. Leave Indianapolis via Kentucky Ave. and follow State road No. 12 through Mooresville to Martinsville: from Martinsvile follow State road No. 22 south to Bloomington. The road is macadam a few miles from the eity. then gravel with about five miles of pavement entering Bloomington. DUsance fifty-seven miles Note—Traffic desiring to use the new paved road to Martinsville, will go south on Meridian St. angle right where the street forks and follow State rad No 22 through Waverly to Martinsville. The pavement is completed on this road between Indianapolis and Martinsville, but three detours i _ e necessary for bridge work and traffic is adi iscd to drive carefully. RABIES INFECTIONS INCREASE INSTATE Examinations Made in Laboratory During Past Three Months Exceed 1923 Record,
As many cases of rabies were discovered by the State board of health Pasteur laboratory during the past three months as appeared during the whole year 1923, it was learned today, following examination of the bead of a rabid dog which bit twelve or more persons in Greencastle Monday. In 1923 total of 114 heads were examined, twenty-two of which registered positive, indicating the animals had rabies. Twenty-one were dogs and one was a cow. Os the balance of 'the heads, seven were cats, four hogs, one sheep, two cows and dogs. In August, seven heads were examined, one showing presence of rabies. Four persons were treated. In September, sixteen heads were examined, nine showing presence of

Rice, laboratory director, the disease is transmitted by means of a germ or virus which is found in the saliva of infected animals. Germ is usually transmitted through a bite, but also can be transmitted through mere contact with the skin where it is broken. Treatment of persons likely infected is free at the Pasteur laboratory on X. Capitol Ave. Fourteen injections, one a day, constitute the treatment, immunizing the human from hydrophobia. No cure for the disease is known, once it develops. Family physicians also can give the treatment, according to Rice, by obtaining the serum from medical
