DAWES HECKLED ON NR DEAL G, 0. P, Candidate Fails to Explain Transaction, Bit United Press MINNEAPOLIS, Minn., Sept. 26. —Warmed by an enthusiastic reception in Minneapolis, stronghold of Minnesota Republicanism, Charles G. Dawes went up-river today to St. Cloud with his message of “patriotism.” Dawes, in his speech here, continued his assault on Robert M. La Follette as the leader of “socialistic thought, who would tear asunder the Constitution of the United States — bulwark of freedom.” He was interrupted by hecklers several times, but only once did he deign to reply. A man in the gallery shouted: “Why don’t you explain the Lori-mer-Dawes bank deal??” “I read in the newspapers," replied Dawes, “what this man Wheeler said about President Coolidge, Mr. Davis and myself. One of the newspapers said it was vitrolic. It was nothing of the kind, for vitrol leaves a mark. It was more like sulphurated hydrogen, which leaves only a vile smell.” RED CROSS NAMES CITY Hen Country Club of Lebanon, Ind., 1925 Meeting Place.
