TAXI DRIVER IS GIVEN SENTENCE IN SPEED COURT Second Conviction Results in 30-Day Term —Docket Is Light, O. S. Tribby, 21, of 536 Harmon St., a taxi driver, was sentenced to thirty days on the Indiana State penal farm and fined $35 and costs in speeders court today. He admitted he had been convicted of speeding May 24, 1924, and said he was fined sl4 and costs, but S2O of the fine was “knocked off” when he attended the speeders school instituted by City Judge Delbert O. Wilmeth. Deputy Sheriff Roland Snider, who arrested Tribby Wednesday, charged him with going thirty-five miles on Alabama St., between Thirteenth St. and Ft. Wayne Ave. Tribby appealed. Forty-four drivers were fined, one had judgment withheld, seven had • cases dismissed and thirteen were granted continuances. Two hundred dollar bond of Raymond Curley, Twelfth and Illinois Sts., was ordered forfeited when he ! failed to appear. He was charged with speeding, having no automobile license and having no certificate of title. Explains Continuances Judge Wilmeth in his customary talk to the defendants, again called attention to the fact that there had been 300 motor accidents in Indianapolis this month. He explained that continuances were refused in many cases because the court wished to avoid duplication of work. Judge Wilmeth was folio-wing the same procedure as last week in fining motorists charged with speed tinder thirty miles, a minimum fine of sll without costs. The dpcket was one of the lightest since the campaign on fast driving w r as launched early in the summer. Only sixty-six cases were called. Here Are Fines Fines were assessed as follows, costs not included: L. A. Corey, 836 N. Jefferson St., thirty-two miles, sl9: Wendell A. Eaker, 2708 W.
