EVANSVILLE TO •PRINCETON ROAD PAVEDAND OPEN State Highway Has One Detour Around Bridge Under Construction, Traffic is now using pavement all the way .between Evansville and Princeton on State Rd. No. 10 except at one short detour around bridge construction just north of Evansville, John D. Williams, State highway director, announced today. A mile and a quarter north of the Marion County line a bridge is being repaired on No. 15, necessitating a short detour marked to the east. Road conditions: No. 1 (New Albany. Indianapolis, South Bf*nd. Michigan line! —Detour around Westfield-street paving at the main cross stree tin town, continuing five and onehall miles on detour back to No. 1. Pavement can be followed to three miles south of the Tipton-Hamilton County line. There detour to west returning to No. 1 at four miles north of the Hamilton County line; thence on pavement to Kokomo. Closed for construction between Kokomo and Peru. North of Kokomo take marked detour through Bunker Hill. South of Indianapolis detour via Dudleytown between Seymour and Crotherrville around construction at upper Muscatatuek River. Detour around construction south of Seottsburg. and at north corporate line of Seymour. No. 3 (Terre Haute. Indianapolis. Rich•nd) —One-way bridge at Putnamville. prow grade at Glenn, three miles east of re Haute. No. 6 i Madison. Greensburr. Indianapolis. TAX VALUATIONS RAISED State Board Boosts Assessments in Twenty-four Counties. Personal property owners in twenty-four counties will pay taxes on values increased from 5 to 33 per cent by the State tax board which closed its hearings for equalization of assessments Thursday. Marion County was heard Thursday but no change ordered. It is believed the increase in assessments will bring Indiana’s total assessed valuation tc> $5,300,000,000. The Indianapolis valuation will total about $’ r 30,000,000. The increase in the State totals $30,000,000. Stepson Shoots Father By Times Special LAFAYETTE, Ind., Aug. I. Frank E. Emergencies Every’ touring party should have a first-aid kit for emergencies. The kit should contain: Gauze compress with bandage, extra sterilized gauze, adhesive plaster, triangular bandage for slings, head dressings, etc., earbolized petrolatum for burns, sunburns, etc., gauze bandages, tweezers for removing splinters, -etc., scissors, iodine applicators, safety pins. Besides, some favorite family remedies may be taken. Such as castor oil, Epsom salts, quinine for fever, mustard for footbaths, carbonate of soda for indigestion and a small hot water bottle for relief from chills or neuralgia.
