This is undoubtedly true in the coffee industry today, where 10,000 Brazil nuts, disguised as Brazilian revolutionists and government troops, are playing havoc with the ambitions of millions of coffee beans to reach the American market. As 75 j>er cent of all the coffee purchased in the world comes from Brazil, and as there is no great surplus piled up in this country at present, there are going to be a lot of American coffee drinkers enjoying their splendid isolation by attempting to appease their coffee craving with some makeshift substitute, if the Sao Paulo revolution continues for another three months. This is the opinion expressed by B. D. Lewis, coffee broker, 610 Lombard Bldg. The heart of the coffee district is Sao P&'ulo, about seventy miles inland from Santos, the port of em-

barkation for all the little Ameri-can-bound coffee beans. It seems that the Brazilian garrison of Sao Paulo became disgusted with the national administration, and instead of organizing a third political party, it just went on a rampage and began saying it with bullets. Loyal Brazilian troops were rushed to the scene, and a pleasant winter, for it Is winter in the southern hemisphere, is being had by all. Meantime, the only railroad line between Sao Paulo and Santos is out of commission. Therefore, no coffee comes to Santos, and no coffee ships leave for America. All the itme the coffee drinkers in this country drink coffee, and the visible supply diminishes. For three months everything will be all right, but if at the en<i of that time the revolution is still rampaging there may be a vain clamor from coffee drinkers for their favorite stimulant.
