MONIREAL-BOUND BAND TO PARADE BEFORESTARTING City Officials’ Special Train Leaves Late Today for Convention, The police and firemen’s band will parade from city hall to the Union Station late today to board a special train which will carry city officials and the band*o Montreal, Canada, for the international police chiefs' convention opening next week. Stops will be made at eleven Eastern cities where official receptions will be given. Eighty-three persons compose the party. A baggage car attached to train will serve as a combination kitchen and dining car. Army cots have been obtained in case all cannot be accommodated in the Pullmans. All meals will be served on t he train. Movies Boost City Mayor Samuel Lewis Shank, Martin J. Hyland, street commissioner; Jesse Sisloff. of the board of safety; Police Chief Herman F. Rikhoff, John F. Walker, superintendent of street cleaning, and W. T. Bailey, assistant city attorney, are among officials going. The train will be loaded with movies, folders and other booster ammunition for Indianapolis-made products. Bailey has arranged for the pictures to be shown at theaters in cities where stops will be made, and at Montreal theaters in the fourday stay there. Local business bouses are financing the trip. iVfter 1925 Meeting Indianapolis will make a bid for the 1925 convention. Mayer Shank has issued a general order that every city employe keep sharp lookout for ideas in other cities which could be incorporated in Indianapolis. The traffic department ,s sending special representatives to observe traffic conditions. \ Brother Is Arrested Floyd Taylor, 19, of 938 E. Georgia St., was arrested Thursday by detectives, who allege he was with his brother. Edgar Taylor. 28, of 1019 E. FOSTER TO RON FORPRESIDENT Farmer-Labor Party' Picks New Ticket, By United Press CHICAGO, July 11.—William Z. Foster for President and Ben Gitlow, New York, for Vice President. This is the new national ticket of the Farmer-Labor party which met in St. Paul, June 17. At a meeting of the Workers Party here Thursday it was decided to throw overboard the MacDonaldPouck ticket selected at the St. Paul convention. The Foster-Gitlow ticket was substituted. Gitlow was one of the first communists convicted in the United Slates. He is now at liberty on bond pending appeal from a ten-year sentence. He served three years.
