Landlord and tenant will fight out a unique legal battle in city court. Frederick Steck. patrolman, arrested William F. Law. his landlord. Sunday. on charges of entering a house to commit a felony, vagrancy and voting illegally after law had gone to the Steck home to spend the! night. According to Law, he rented a house to Steck at 611 N. Delaware St. several months ago, and went to a northern Indiana lake for the sum- j mer. He said he retained his legal residence here. At the primary elec-' he was Republican judge in the. - Second precinct. Seventh ward. He says he had no idea why he was arrested except that Steck asked him to “speed up" papering one of the rooms in the house. JAIL ESCAPE CHARGED Man Arrested When He Calls Police After Wife Leaves. Thomas Eurton. alias Charle* j Owens. 32, of 180 N. Blackford St., is held awaiting arrival of officers ! from Athens, Ala., where it is alleged he broke jail in 1919. Police said he was arrested when he called officers to his home to investigate domestic trouble. He told police his wife had ran away with another man and was at a certain address. They could not find her, but left word. When she appeared at the office of Capt- Herbert Fletcher, she said that ?he left because Eurton mistreated her and j that she was going to her parents, j according to police. U. S.
