BEAUTY HELPFUL TO WOMEN 10 ARE POLITICS Democrats Agree Mrs, Blair, Vice Chairman, Meets Requirements, By DOROTHY SHUMATE (United Press Convention • Correspondent) NEW YORK, June 19. —Found: The recipe for a successful woman politician. Page Mrs. Emily Newell Blair, vice chairman of the Democratic national committee for t the finished product. Here is the recipe: To beauty—the more the better — add as much cleverness as desired, then add the dress, well selected, preferably the imported variety. Home grown is acceptable, but must be very carefully selected. Then you have the proper dish. Result —nearly 500 women politicians at the national committee. Easy on the Eyes Beautiful women make better leaders than their plainer sisters, the powers that be agree. Contrary to the general belief, men like to take their politics from someone easy on the eyes so to speak. Women politicians today admitted this but they wouldn't be quoted. Consequently, Mrs. Blair, herself the loveliest of them all. points with pride to the steady influx of Democratic women in New Y'ork. a living tribute to her organization and women's position in politics. A quiet, retiring sort of person is Mrs. Blair, head of the greatest group of organized women politicians in history. A woman who thrusts herself into the background speaks only when necessary, but who does things. Twice Vice Chairman No woman ever Lad held the position of power in the political world that is Mrs. Blair’s. Twice she has been elected national committee woman from Missouri and twice she. has been chosen vice chairman of the national committee. For four years she has worked equally with men and is the most outstanding figure in feminine politics today. BABIES PROUD WINNERS “Fun Fest” of East Side Club Attended by Thousands.
