Birds of Paradise on Same Bill With Trained Mules at Palace
By WALTER D. HICKMAN 'rn| HERE are two “birds of Fara- & I dise” and a trained mule on * the new vaudeville bill at the Palace this week-end. The Chalfonte Sisters are excellent lancers who dress up like birds, :alk, sing and dance like them. This lancing act is mounted and presented in good taste. A real novelty, because the sisters have original ideas concerning the dance. In the opening act, White, Black and Useless, a trained mule is used io advantage in a blacksmith shop scene. I guess the animal is a mule, but he is a good comedian, anyway. It is the old trick mule stunt presented in anew way. Billy Zeck and Gladys Randolph in "Grooming the Groom" offer a rather mild form of entertainment. Emil R. Demarest is a pianist who goes in for the trick stuff. He even plays the piano while standing on bis head. Good act. The applause winner of the bill is a team known as the Four Miners, made up of Pennsylvania coal miners Their individual voices are not well developed, but they seem to get a gang harmony which getd real response from the audience. The movie feature is Strongheart, trained dog. in “The Love Master.” At the Palace today, Saturday and Sunday. -I- -IOther attractions on view today include: “Tangerine” at Keith's,
