MIGRATORY BIRDS OF NEW VARIETY Red Cross Detects Tourists in 'Free Gas’ Stunt, This is the season of migratory birds, not feathered ones, but the human kind. Go West, Go West, i their slogan, and they reach the 'aeifie coast at a very lotv cost. These modern tourists who wind their way across the country over trails established by the covered wagon, have a very unique way of traveling at very little expense. Posing sometimes as Wopld War veterans they will apply at the Red Cross chapter in the town in which they stop over and ask for money to purchase enough gasoline to take them to the next town, where relatives live. At first the Red Cross workers believe,', tl-ese and was willing to aid in getting the party to the end of their journey. Rut it was only a hoax. When the tourists reached tlie next town they would again apply at the Red Cross headquarters again for gasoline money to tak<- th*-m to the next town, and so on until they have bridged the continent.

OLD CAPITOL BUILDING * / Still standing is the old Statehouse, built for the use of the Territorial Legislature and officers in 1811 at Corydon, Ind. It was not entirely completed until 1815. It is built of blue limestone taken from neighboring hills, is two stories high and forty feet square. Its founders certainly wanted the structure to last because they built the walls of the first story two and one-half feet thick and of the second story two feet. The House of Representatives

met in the lower story while the Senate occupied one of the two rooms above. It was here that the Legislature met annually until 1825. AGAINST BILL BOARDS Signs Topic of Motorists on Summer . Trips—Views Obstructed. The erection of bill boards along highways has been receiving considerable adverse criticism in the past few years. Especially during the summer the boards are invariably the topic for discussion on all motor and train trips. The structures mar the scenery, are unsightly and obstruct the view of railroad crossings are three of the major arguments against them. In some States legislation is being sought as a means of abolishing the boards. Twelve of the largest advertising concerns in the United States have assured prominent women’s organizations of the country that they will not use bill boards as a means of advertising.
